ymc226 Posted December 6, 2012 Share #1  Posted December 6, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) I bought a 35 Lux ASPH non-FLE 3 years ago but never got around to it on my film bodies. I just tested it on the MM that I got 2 days ago and it appears to back focus significantly. Unfortunately, the Passport warranty has expired.  The target was around 4 feet away since my subjects are usually this close. I used a tripod and a 1.4x magnifier.  To me the back focus seems very off and should be fixed but is there focus shift as well?  1.4 Welcome, dear visitor! IWC Doppel Posted December 6, 2012 Share #4 Â Posted December 6, 2012 It is obvioulsy 'out', I would see how much it is out at f1.4, then set it to be correct at 1.4 by moving the camera or target until you get a sharp image. looks a lot out IMO Â Then run the aperture test again to establish focus shift. Both my (pre fle) ASPH and ASPHIRICAL both focus shift but the ASPHERICAL less so. However when correct at 1m wide open the small shift was very marginal as the increas of DOF covered the majority of the shift. I have never experienced any real focus issues in practice with these lenses set up this way. Some folks request that the lens be adjusted for f/2 though. Mine certainly has focus shift, but it's a wonderful lens otherwise. I'll definitely keep it. I use DAG for this kind of work. He also added 6 bit codes to some of my lenses. In fact, I need to send him additional items. But I have also had Leica NJ and Solms do things under warranty.
