Messsucherkamera Posted November 25, 2012 Share #1 Posted November 25, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have started carrying my M camera almost all of the time and am wondering which other forum members do likewise. First off, a bit of clarification. There are a few times when I do not carry my M. Those times are: Mowing the grass, taking out the trash, walking the dogs and funerals. Other than those instances, if I leave the house the M goes with me, along with my 28 Summicron and/ or my 50 Summilux, light meter and three or four rolls of film. My Hadley Pro has become a part of my daily wear, as much as my shoes and pants. I took to this practice after a couple of occasions of missing out on what would have been some outstanding street photography opportunities. Since then, I have gotten some images I would not have gotten before. I have found that if you go light on equipment, carrying an M all the time really is no inconvenience or hassle af all. People carry laptops all the time in their messenger bags; I carry a lightweight M kit instead. If your M had become a part of your daily outfit, tell us about it. What lens/lenses do you take along? What shots have you captured as a result?
sblitz Posted November 25, 2012 Share #2 Posted November 25, 2012 I do. Along with my m4. Have a Bellingham that allows room for work papers etc so it's all in one convienent black bag. Actually I would love to take one to a funeral but I understand

Jager Posted November 25, 2012 Share #4 Posted November 25, 2012 I carry an M with me nearly everywhere, and have for probably 8 or 9 years. For work, I bought a Domke F-803 satchel to use as my "brief case," simply so I would have a protected environment for my camera, along with the pens, notebooks, glasses, calculator, and other odds and ends needed in an office environment. When I'm not traveling to or from work, I eschew the satchel, simply carrying a single M body (currently an MM) and whatever lens happens to be mounted. earleygallery Posted November 25, 2012 Share #10 Posted November 25, 2012 I don't. Firstly, an M is a compact camera, but still a bit of a lump to carry AT ALL TIMES. I have a 35mm Minox which is a great camera to slip into a pocket and you really forget you have it with you. The only camera I take with me at all times is my iphone. Lindolfi Posted November 25, 2012 Share #11 Posted November 25, 2012 Anytime, anywhere, beauty, surprise or science can open itself, so the M is with me all the time. And I planned to slim down on focal lengths, but it appears that I use them all, the 21, 35, 50, 75 and 135. Sometimes on fast cycle trips I bring the 21, 50 and 135 only: they fit in a tiny 2 liter narrow backpack with the camera and spare tyre, pump and spanner. If you look at my PhotoBlog (see below), you can see almost 1200 daily images. Yesterday was the running bride in Amsterdam. Beauty and a story line. It makes me very grateful when it works with my little camera. For the dutch speaking visitors: here is a Pecha Kucha (lecture with 20 images, each 20 seconds) of some of my PhotoBlog images, given a week ago
Peter H Posted November 25, 2012 Share #12 Posted November 25, 2012 Pretty much all the time, with the same lens choice, ie 28 Summicron or 50 Summilux, and occasionally both. These cover at least 95% of all my photos. If I feel like carrying a bag I might add a 21 or a 90 if there's a specific reason for it, but that's quite rare now. mustafasoleiman Posted November 25, 2012 Share #13 Posted November 25, 2012 Always... I got married wearing one... M9 + 50 as a minimum over the shoulder... Two M9s + 21/35/50/90 as a standard... Add a 12 and 135 for travel.
IkarusJohn Posted November 26, 2012 Share #14 Posted November 26, 2012 Black leather dothebag mono_9, with M9P and a mix of lenses; currently 50 Summilux ASPH and 28 Summicron ASPH. I will add long or wide, as the needs arise. Also, specs, sunglasses, wallet, phone, keys and often iPad - doesn't weigh too much, and it's pretty discreet. Otherwise, NEX in my pocket, with 35 Summilux FLE if I'm doing something adventurous.
swamiji Posted November 26, 2012 Share #15 Posted November 26, 2012 Well I don't always have an M with me, but the times I don't have either my M7 or M9 (either a 35mm or 50mm Summilux), I have a IIIF (Summarit 50mm f1.5). In either a Billingham Hadley Pro or Digital, with a Weston, Tri-X, etc.
Paul J Posted November 26, 2012 Share #16 Posted November 26, 2012 Yes, around my neck. Just one lens. Usually a 35mm Summilux, otherwise a Noctilux. I always have some kind of bag with me in case it rains or whatever.
bill Posted November 26, 2012 Share #17 Posted November 26, 2012 I almost always carry a camera, but not always an M. As James has pointed out, the M is still bulky and heavy and ruins the line of ones suit. That said, I have a black leather briefcase that takes a Hadley insert which is ideal for trips to the fetid metropolis. My normal carry everywhere is either my GRDIII or my Leica II with 5cm Elmar. Fang Posted November 26, 2012 Share #18 Posted November 26, 2012 I try to take my M if I can but most of the time my D-Lux 5 is with me around my belt in it's leather case.
