I found this Leica II at a flea market at a reasonable price, but a friend of mine who used to own a Leica some years ago thinks it could be a fake. As only experts are able to spot details denouncing a forgery, I humbly submit this highly dubious case to members of the Leica Forum.

It's a faked fake. Real fakes have swastikas.

On the gripping hand, it can't be a real Leica, either, as they usually are engraved with "Genuine Leica" or - at times - "Genuine Leica Advantage", of course. Also, the hologram is missing.

I thought I read somewhere that Leica once had to fire a few dyslexic engravers?

Clearly, they didn't catch this one. Or - other possibility - they didn't trace their "Wetzer" department...

This is FED NKVD. Serial number is original FED's number. But rewind knob comes from earlier FED NKVD (till 20 000) Release button comes from early FED too. The camera is combined from at least 2 FEDs NKVD.

Ah! something serious about this camera...finally. thanks!
