melissah Posted November 12, 2012 Share #5 Â Posted November 12, 2012 Such perfect color. Didn't know he gave a speech at cooper union! Today I guess I'm just hyper-critical (might be coming down with a cold!) anyway, the leaf/branch overhead is a distraction to me. The color elements for me are so important and drive us to Lincoln's face In a really positive way. Color effects emotion... So the branch kinda confuses my eye. To me this simple (not a slam) image is so strong that the branch has to go!
robert_parker Posted November 12, 2012 Share #6 Â Posted November 12, 2012 This time I'm 100% with you on the DoF control and the bokeh, which work excellently in this shot - I do share a little concern about the top of the picture, though I'm less concerned about the branch but do feel that there's a little too much real estate above his hat, which reduces the impact for me ever so slightly
roguewave Posted November 12, 2012 Author Share #7 Â Posted November 12, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) Thanks all for your comments. Melissa, Lincoln's comments laid the foundation of what would later become the Emancipation Proclamation. He made an enormous impact on Republicans in NYC.
