osscat Posted November 7, 2012 Share #1 Â Posted November 7, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) The worn sign painted on the wall above the shop claims - "Orders Promptly Attended To" Â I have been scanning some negs from the mid 1970s and it is proving interesting how the years have altered my view of the images I made back then. Â I have discovered some little gems which I overlooked but which obviously meant something to me at the time. Perhaps it is simply the passage of time which has added some significance to them, however, I have found images like the one in the link above to be quite visually stimulating. If it is a Leica shot, too many of us will miss it because we won't click through.  That will be their loss Stuart, but thanks for the accolade - it may not be leica ( but its still a good shot ) - I wonder how many good images those amongst us do not post because they were not made with a Leica even though we are using one now?  In this digital age I am not sure there is any alternative for me - the digital process is something I have grown into but what brought me to Leica was the familiarity of the hardware to my analogue past - shutter speed dial, manual focus etc., etc.  The visual process is still the same as before - my primary interest is in the image not the equipment.  Osscat  PS - as of a few moments ago there have been five views from this forum including one comment. Â I think I mentioned in another thread, Peter, that I've bookmarked your flickr site because you have outstanding work there which, IMO, deserves much more frequent exposure on the forum. Â This 'Orders' one is excellent and also vitally important as a record of working-class community which, as your description points out, was deemed unworthy of British 'Heritage' conservation by the council town planners. Â Thanks Alun - the one of Byker Wall is a particular favourite of mine, it is of its time but could even be more recent, whereas the photo of the butchers shop has more 'age' and has something of Humphrey Spender to it - a very different image altogether.
