pgk Posted November 5, 2012 Author Share #3 Posted November 5, 2012 Used Leica 48mm UV Glass filter for the 200mm f/4 Telyt B&H I'm after this filter for a 21 SA - will the Telyt filter work - I thought that it might be too deep?
jaapv Posted November 5, 2012 Share #4 Posted November 5, 2012 I don't think the SA needs a slim filter, but it will be difficult to find something else. B&W used to make 48 mm but I looked on the Foto Huppert site and it is no longer listed, at least not for the 007 protective filters. You could have a look on the Heliopan site and if they still list it you can mail them for a dealer. Personally I am not convinced by the use of protective filters on extreme wideangles, and iirc the 21 SuperAngulon is not immune to flare.
luigi bertolotti Posted November 5, 2012 Share #5 Posted November 5, 2012 I have exactly the filter linked to by Jaap... an UV standard which i regularly mounted on my Telyt 200 ; it happened to me also to mount it on my SA 21.. and as far as I remember (it was several years ago) it didn't cause issues related to the mount in itself (vignetting) ; but is also true what Jaap says... with strong wideangles the typical glass filters can easily bring to problems of recflection / flare etc... You can find some (no cheap) E48 UV filters also at Kevin cameras : http://www.kevincameras.com/ (see "Leica Misc." - then Album: "Leica Filters" - "Leica E 48 filters")
