After being totally intrigued by a saddle in a Hermes store, I learned Hermes has a long history in making top quality leather horse saddles that beautified with age. If this is the case, alongside vintage Louis Vuitton, Dunhill, El Bisonte and other big leather brands that I've seen age with class, I can only conclude your camera will be a beauty in years to come. Yes - I've always liked the shape of the Hermès body, though I've seen it only in photos, of which the OP's are very clear, thanks! Especially like the lack of a dropped right shoulder (as seen from the front), à la M8 (and M). But I agree, the back is a bit of a mish-mash of materials and colours. In the first picture it looks plain yellow. Almost like yellow paper. While the daylight strap shot the colour is much flatter and leather like. Fantastic they are bought by an owner who intends to use them. Good on you. I think the Hermes looks stunning. Personally just wish it had a hotsoe! Particularly love the silver Noctilux. Interesting that there are so many comments about the lack of a hot-shoe on the Hermes M9P...let me tell you a story..I visited the Leica factory in Solms a few months ago with my standard M9P and as some of you know, the stocks of lenses, accessories there are limited to say the least...so I thought I'd buy a flash unit as my souvenir of the trip...until speaking to the service staff there, they asked if I actually found that I ever needed a flash? On reflection, I realised that the beauty of the M9 paired with a 35 or 50 summilux or noctliux is that available light photography is really what the M9 is about and what I enjoy so much about my M9.....so I left Solms sans flash but happy nevertheless. So unless you want the hotshoe to mount a thumbsup, why would you want to use flash on an M9??? (In any case, I find my Ciesta half case looks better and is far superior to the thumbs up I bought for about the same price!) As an aside, I am commissioning Ciesta to make me a custom half case just like my standard half case and I am awaiting Leica's info on the exact Ocre colour of leather used by Hermes. What is curious is that when I tried my existing Ciesta case on the new Hermes M9P, it did not fit! The M9P Hermes is about 2mm wider and deeper than the standard M9P! Quite agree about the flash I think that most of us would like to have a hot shoe to attach external viewfinders for wide angle lenses . . . but if you have two M bodies, then of course you can use the M9p with the WATE, 21 lux, 24 lux etc! .. . and if you can afford a Hermes edition to use as a real camera, then sure you can afford an M9p for wide angle Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

ayewing Posted November 12, 2012 Share #36 Posted November 12, 2012 While I take the point that an M9 equipped with Summilux lenses seldom needs flash in low light conditions I do find fill in flash very useful on occasion and miss having a popup flash or a tiny clip-on like the Olympus OM-D.
