Messsucherkamera Posted September 21, 2012 Share #7 Â Posted September 21, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) It would be interesting to know which of the rich and fabulous who wear Leica M cameras are actually committed image makers and which are shallow posers. Â Not likely any actor or rich person would ever be that. Many actors in the 20s probably carried Deardorffs.

jaques Posted September 21, 2012 Share #10 Â Posted September 21, 2012 besides having a lens cap on.... is there something attached to the front of the camera on the left side just below the shutter release?
philipus Posted September 21, 2012 Share #11 Â Posted September 21, 2012 besides having a lens cap on.... Â Seriously, don't these guys plan their shoots at all? This film must have cost plenty and they let this happen.
Peter H Posted September 21, 2012 Share #12 Â Posted September 21, 2012 besides having a lens cap on.... is there something attached to the front of the camera on the left side just below the shutter release? Â You must be an amateur. Â Its the old "Lans Cap" bluff. Like the no-red-dot-and-black-tape gambit. Â Makes your victims think you're not a photographer. Â In the right hands, its an extremely convincing act.
jaapv Posted September 21, 2012 Share #13 Â Posted September 21, 2012 Nothing as sinister. They taped out the M8 logo to avoid paying for the trademark.
Paul J Posted September 21, 2012 Share #14  Posted September 21, 2012 The lens cap on is funny.  Reminds me - how many times have you had this happen?  I was at my friends wedding not so long ago and I had my M9 with me. I got the usual - that's a funny looking camera...yada yada. One person wanted to take a picture with it. When they looked through the viewfinder they did the usual, put their eye up to it and then quickly take it away. Then back to it and said - "but you can see the lens" To which I replied "yes" they then proceeded to ask "well whats the point in that?" I explained it was Range Finder and that it worked differently. "how much is it?" they asked. "A bit" I replied. "what, like more than £500?" "....Yes." I replied "You pay all that money and you have the lens in, blocking all the shots?"

philipus Posted September 21, 2012 Share #16 Â Posted September 21, 2012 Ah, gullible me. Well done I must say, looked convincing to me. Â I liked Paul's story. Yesterday I went out with some mates and brought along my TTL+35FLE. Several questions about price etc and I found myself not telling the entire truth. Then again one of the guys had a Porsche so at least he would have understood the idea of spending on a hobby/interest/passion, I think. Â I've never had a comment about VF blockage but often get the surprising comment as someone is about to take a picture that "Wow everything is in focus, amazing".
