Leica M; HURAY!!!! They managed to make a REALLY expensive Sony NEX-7... Hilarious!

Honestly, WTF???

P.s. Thanks for the M-E... That one and the Monochrome keep the candle burning. Would have jumped on that if it had a better screen though.

Cool! The M-E will be 4800€. Like a second hand M9. Ehehehe

Not likely to do the price of used M9's much good, or M8's for that matter. Given the lack of difference.

But congratulations to Leica - lots of new, interesting goodies for a still relatively small company.

I still don't know what is different between the M E and the M9

Apart from the sensor it would appear that the M is an attempt to ...approach the Nikons and the Canons (bound to fail) whilst the M-E does not know quite what it is. One thing I know : The M9 is a LEICA these things are not !

.....and for them to say "to overcome the shortcomings of the rangefinder" !!! God help us...what we have descented to !

The previous post by XJR is a reminder to stay away from this forum for the next several days and come back to it when these kinds of sentiments have burned themselves out.

Thank you, Leica. Nice concepts, smart prices, both will sell like hot cakes.

I will. RF focus while filming should work really really well, with some practice.

!

Bell&Howell made a Sound Super-8 movie camera with through the lens viewing with an optically superimposed RF. Kodak used an optical viewfinder with an optically superimposed RF.

same processor and screen? they must have really bought a lot of those junkie components from a forgotten taiwanese warehouse (as digiloyd says) and want to sell them to their customers for outrageous prices.

the M looks more up to today's standards, the low volume CMOS from some belgian company makes me worried though. it looks as if they could not acquire a CMOS sensor from a leading reputed international manufacturer like sony or renesas.

What more to whish? For me the most important improvement is the high ISO capabilities. With the fast lenses this is going to be the most versatile camera system on the market yet. Already pre-ordered mine!

The new M looks excellent so far. Leica has made some compromises to placate a wider audience (live view, EVF, video) which I welcome. Miracle upon miracle it has a good LCD screen! I hope it has decent dynamic range and noise doesnt appear until around ISO 600-800 at least
