Advertisement Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 Hi kdriceman, Take a look here Leica M and M-E. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
DFV Posted September 17, 2012 Share #22 Â Posted September 17, 2012 Leica M; HURAY!!!! They managed to make a REALLY expensive Sony NEX-7... Hilarious! Â Honestly, WTF??? Â P.s. Thanks for the M-E... That one and the Monochrome keep the candle burning. Would have jumped on that if it had a better screen though.
sandymc Posted September 17, 2012 Share #23  Posted September 17, 2012 Cool! The M-E will be 4800€. Like a second hand M9. Ehehehe[/url]  Not likely to do the price of used M9's much good, or M8's for that matter. Given the lack of difference.  But congratulations to Leica - lots of new, interesting goodies for a still relatively small company.  Sandy

xjr Posted September 17, 2012 Share #29 Â Posted September 17, 2012 I still don't know what is different between the M E and the M9 Â Apart from the sensor it would appear that the M is an attempt to ...approach the Nikons and the Canons (bound to fail) whilst the M-E does not know quite what it is. One thing I know : The M9 is a LEICA these things are not ! .....and for them to say "to overcome the shortcomings of the rangefinder" !!! God help us...what we have descented to ! johnbuckley Posted September 17, 2012 Share #30 Â Posted September 17, 2012 The previous post by XJR is a reminder to stay away from this forum for the next several days and come back to it when these kinds of sentiments have burned themselves out. Â Thank you, Leica. Nice concepts, smart prices, both will sell like hot cakes.
brianv Posted September 17, 2012 Share #31 Â Posted September 17, 2012 I will. RF focus while filming should work really really well, with some practice. ! Â Bell&Howell made a Sound Super-8 movie camera with through the lens viewing with an optically superimposed RF. Kodak used an optical viewfinder with an optically superimposed RF. ananda Posted September 17, 2012 Share #32 Â Posted September 17, 2012 Good work Leica. I am thrilled with the new M, and that the ME continues the CCD of the M9. Yep, I will buy it when it arrives.
markowich Posted September 17, 2012 Share #33 Â Posted September 17, 2012 I still don't know what is different between the M E and the M9 Â same processor and screen? they must have really bought a lot of those junkie components from a forgotten taiwanese warehouse (as digiloyd says) and want to sell them to their customers for outrageous prices. the M looks more up to today's standards, the low volume CMOS from some belgian company makes me worried though. it looks as if they could not acquire a CMOS sensor from a leading reputed international manufacturer like sony or renesas. peter
steelduck Posted September 17, 2012 Share #34  Posted September 17, 2012 New M...weather seals, 2m frame lines and the Maestro processor...my top 3 wish list. Jeff  + the 920K display and better high iso performance... my top five.  I am so getting one.. norm_snyder Posted September 17, 2012 Share #35 Â Posted September 17, 2012 Works for me. Now I may be able to replace that M8u I sold a few months ago with a [cheaper used] M9.
leffe Posted September 17, 2012 Share #36 Â Posted September 17, 2012 What more to whish? For me the most important improvement is the high ISO capabilities. With the fast lenses this is going to be the most versatile camera system on the market yet. Already pre-ordered mine!
Stealth3kpl Posted September 17, 2012 Share #37 Â Posted September 17, 2012 I hope they make an M-P with no red dot. Oh, wait..... Â Pete
andyedward Posted September 17, 2012 Share #38 Â Posted September 17, 2012 The new M looks excellent so far. Leica has made some compromises to placate a wider audience (live view, EVF, video) which I welcome. Miracle upon miracle it has a good LCD screen! I hope it has decent dynamic range and noise doesnt appear until around ISO 600-800 at least
brianv Posted September 17, 2012 Share #39 Â Posted September 17, 2012 I like the Red Dot on my M9. Â It will be the easiest way to tell it from the M Monochrom when they are both in the camera bag.
Photoskeptic Posted September 17, 2012 Share #40 Â Posted September 17, 2012 I must say I'm totally confused by the new Leica lineup. It's almost one of those "Who's on first?" routines.
