How long have others waited to complete the purchase from Solms of the 30%-reduced new lenses? I sent off all of the paperwork to Solms five weeks ago, received a note back yesterday from Leica Germany, returning my original invoice and notifying me that the order had been given to Leica USA. The letter was sent twelve days ago, and I have not heard anything, nor has my credit card been charged. Time to call NJ yet? Anyone else receive a lens from this offer already?

This was also posted by someone else about a week ago. It seems Leica Germany is handing off the actual supplying and shipping of the 30% off lenses to there local distributors instead of shipping directly from Germany. I suspect this is because of the cost of one unit shipments and the customs problems out of one country and into another.

If Leica NJ has the lens you ordered then they will ship it to you. But if they don't have it on hand they will have to wait for it to come in with the normal shipments from Germany.

It can't hurt to call and find out.

I sent the paperwork off in the 2nd week of January and received my lens a week later.....This was in Europe, so I guess the holdup is with Leica USA.

Most likely with the lens, as well as the two-step delivery. Delivery to Japan also takes two steps. Do you remember the cartoon that every parts department or repair service counter used to post showing a bunch of cartoon characters ROTFLTAO, with the caption "You want it when?" That's the reaction you get when you ask when to expect your new discounted Noctilux, 75 Summilux, or similar. The customs and paperwork delays (if any) through Leica USA are probably less of a factor.

Ed - Whilst this may or may not be true for US customers, it certainly is not so for UK customers; according to my telephone conversation with Leica UK prior to posting this.

The scheme runs to 30 June, so providing you get your letter in by then, you will be OK. I've just received my order ack for my 75/1.4, they are saying 1 month. The lens I have received (WATE) came not from Leica but a separate shipping fulfillment company, obvious opportunity for Leica to offload some of the work.

As for the US, you have the additional delays of Leica batching the shipments to the US, customs clearance (which seems to take a bogglingly long time) and shipping by Leica NJ. I can tell you I'm pleased Leica UK are not in our loop...

I'm waiting for a 28/2.8 ASPH. At least Leica Germany "says" that they have officially put in the order through Leica USA in their letter (not dated, but postmarked March 1). Maybe Leica NJ can finally change the flange on my 50/1.4 ASPH that they've had for six weeks and send the two lenses together.

I have another question to speculate on, the offer was good for 6 months at the prices shown in the offer letter. Given the talk about price increases in the Noctilux would now be a prudent time to order or wait towards the end of the offer period when my personal finances should be in better shape to drop €2k+ on the lens, what do you think?. I see the Noctilux perhaps replacing my 75 Apo Asph in the short term and then I'll possibly swap out the 75 Summicron with the 75 Summilux whenever I find one at a reasonable enough price on eBay. I'm kinda figuring I have to try the Nocti to answer the burning questions in my mind, otherwise it will always haunt me  .
