George Furst Posted May 28, 2018 Share #21 Posted May 28, 2018 Advertisement (gone after registration) This reminds me of my first pictures with the UR Replica. I too had light leaks and could not figure out where they came from. Then I realized that when looking at the film right side up (picture side up) it is in the Camera upside down because the image is inverted. Once I sorted that out I realized that the light leaks were where the plate on the back of the ur camera with the Leitz logo was located. I solved this first by putting the camera into a case (the one for the Leica 1a worked fine) and then later permanently solved the problem by a thin layer of black rubber gasket cement. I didn’t need to take this plate off the back anyway.
Advertisement Posted May 28, 2018 Posted May 28, 2018 Hi George Furst, Take a look here Barnack's Exposure testing Camera. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Ambro51 Posted May 28, 2018 Share #22 Posted May 28, 2018 Another feature that suggests M 875 IS the exposure tester is the design of the take up spool. It has two “prongs” which fit the perfs. Since the Exposure was meant to use small segments of film, this feature made the cutting of a special leader unneeded. Welcome, dear visitor! Ambro51 Posted May 29, 2018 Share #23 Posted May 29, 2018 (edited) Building and using this camera has demonstrated a few things. 1. It Works! The simple finger flick exposure is correct for ISO 6 film. 2. The simple film advance works. 3. The circular image encompasses the half frame. 4. It works flawlessly attached to the left side of a tripod mounted object. 5. It can use short lengths of film without a special leader. Adding these facts in with those presented by Georg Mannreally seem to add up to this being Barnacks Exposure Testing Camera.. Perhaps the most significant fact or was kept by Barnack all those years and resides in a tin cabinet with his notes pamphlets and samples. Welcome, dear visitor! Ambro51 Posted March 20, 2022 Share #25 Posted March 20, 2022 Had a few glitches with focus and film binding, but after 3 attempts got decent results. These were shot on 400 film, way too fast for this camera, so I compensated by using a Leica red filter. The more sensitive film revealed a few light leaks that needed attention. Possibly, more information may come to light...there are questions that need to be asked by the right person to the right people. •••••••Meanwhile, Yes those shots are good, the middle one has a little camera shake from the “ finger flick” shutter, which as we see, does actually Work! •••••I’ve got to add, that round format is really appealing! What ‘round’ done, was at this diameter, it fully encloses the 18x24 rectangular Cine format. I Will be shooting this camera again!! >>>>>>>>>>>>> Lookout Barnack Challenge!
