The cedar waxwing has been one of my favorite birds since I was in elementary school, so thank you for posting this image. And since the image is so exquisite, thank you for that, too.

Extraordinary.

 

I found one dead and touched the red wax. When working at a nature center we guides told the visitors that the red wax was often used as a seal in securing envelopes.

I have always found the Cedar Waxwing to be a mysterious and elusive bird, they are unlike any bird I have photographed.
