Still trying to narrow down my lens choices. I used the 35 lux 80% of the time, 10% 21 Elmarit, 10% 75 cron. My 50 lux, as much as I love it, never came out of the bag- too close to the 35 and 75. I may sell my 50 lux and put it toward a second body (which may defeat the traveling light idea but it would be nice to change lenses less). Here are a couple quick jpegs. I made prints from these so they look a little oversharpened for screen use. Welcome, dear visitor! I think this weird divide where good photographers display their status by not posting, leaving all that dirty stuff to the newbies, is kind of eugenic. If people are keen and happy, let 'em post I say. And FWIW I do think your stuff is awesome. Absolutely. I will never be one quarter the photographer you are. Just grumpy. imants, while I agree in general that the subject may not be best off in the centre, there is no reason to be pedantic about it either. Sometimes the subject is best off in the centre. Apparently the camera is an enthusiast's dream. As you said, a lot of people get the camera and discover that it's a stunning machine. (There's a recent post here from someone saying that he just got some UV/IR cut filters, and he also is enthusiastic enough about the fact to post images.) I don't have an M8 yet, but I'm always glad to see an enthusiastic response to a new tool. I don't think you would get many takers on the idea that all images posted on the digital forum should be approved for content before posting, whether by you or by anyone else. I realize I'm not in the same league as most of the regulars on this forum but this attitude serves no real purpose other than to make me feel bad and stroke your ego. I wasn't looking for oohs and aahs just sharing my new found excitement for my new camera. I wasn't trying to make an artisitic statement either but collecting memories for my friends and family. And it is still smaller and more fun than my DSLR. You remind me of Simon Cowel- critical and rude but sometimes right. I too have seen many M8 images and thought that they could have been taken with any camera and what was so special about them. Most forum members have the courtesy and respect to be a little more helpful and less critical than your approach. I'm signed up for the Leica workshop and enjoy what I've learned on this Forum. I will continue to learn and find the M8 a most enjoyable camera and wil not be discouraged by your "holier than thou" attitude. (It may be a while before I post other images though...) Sure, some times it's not good to see a subject smack in the middle of a shot, but we can always crop it later right? We can't all be photo gods all of the time, so don't feel bad. It's interesting how many 'awesome' photographers I read about that say they really only get 1%-2% keepers. It seems to me they are getting those shots as much by good luck and chance as the rest of us, yet they only show that 1%-2%, and we think that is all they did. There are some truly great photographers amonst us, and I take my hat off to them for their skill at what they do, professional or ametuer, I don't care. But remember, we only get to see what they choose to let us see. They don't show us very many of the other 'crap' shots that didn't make it Being professional at something is not the only way to be good. Look at Taxi drivers, they call themselves professional drivers, but they are not all 'good' at it I say good luck to you with the M8. The brain says I saw it, I photograph it but forgets to compose and think about the audience. The audience enjoys discovering as much as a photographer, a story beats being told how to view the image. We spend very little time viewing a individual image no intrigue or scope to play and we will move on. Sure some will work well ie selling a product, technical images, showing a camshaft etc,rarely works wth panoramatic based images ps I post regulary in the photo forum and respond to images.. a great place for those that rarely visit Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

I think that about the same mix of photos appear there as here However, I will personally make a concerted effort to post photos there, rather than here, in the future. To be honest, I don't see why the photo forums are so split up. A single photo forum might be a lot more dynamic than six lightly trafficked forums...
