A few years ago, I bought a lot of photo equipment at an electronics recycler. In it were several pieces of ultra high-end equipment, including some Nikon RF tele lenses, making it an absolute score. However, there is one piece that still to this day baffles me. At first, it appeared to be the rear group of elements for a large format lens. However, I have never been able to find a single piece of information regarding this piece of equipment. It is labeled as "ELCAN f/9.5 170mm Leitz Canada 090-0104" with "Lens Made In Canada" in smaller print. I don't know whether this is a scientific lens, part of a large format lens, or some other special-application piece, so ANY information would be VERY greatly appreciated. Since I don't have any idea what the lens is for, I obviously do not have a use for it, so I would like to sell it, and would like to have as much information as possible. Thanks in advance! jaapv Posted July 14, 2012 Share #2 Posted July 14, 2012 It may well be a cine lens for Panavision (but it would have a T-stop in that case) or an IMAX lens. Elcan made - and makes quite a number of optical solutions for specialist applications, including military and medical (X-ray) lenses. There a similar looking lenses on their website. Elcan lenses are listed on Ebay occasionally but unless they are the super-fast f1 models they do not command high prices. I bought an f2.8 6" Elcan lens on Ebay for a relatively small £sum. Now I have it, I do not use it ... it will not adapt to any camera .. it just sits in my cupboard. dunk Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
