Hi All,

New member here. From sunny Scottsdale Arizona. Long time professional investigator gone the path of executive. Decided on a few tours back to pick up the work camera (nikon) for fun and after a few back breaking indecisive photo sessions I realized the value of a compact professional camera of impeccable quality and invested in Leica. Of course a neophyte I am learning about the problems and am frustrated with a few technical issues and thought to join a forum to explore the how and what of Leica. We all know the why!

Right now my personal projects are all Practice of which my family, friends, coworkers, vendors, restaurant owners ( haha) are all my subjects. Oh and my wife's garden!

So once again greetings from the land of dangerous succulents.

Phil,

Thank you, sir. The rf camera is a great alternative, Leica is arguably the best. I had hoped to get by without posting photos. I see you use Flickr, but I also see your a professional and have a website. Is it easier to post to a site (custome site/ flickr) through a link or here when providing examples?

Welcome to the forum!

I've been a member for a couple of years and found it a very nice place to learn things, ask questions, and expand my horizons. As the Brits used to say about their empire: it's so large the sun never sets on it. The forum is worldwide and the sun is always shining on a member somewhere!

Sincerely

Richard in Michigan

Welcome to the forum from a fellow Arizonan!

The Flower season may be over, but we're entering the Monsoon season with all those dramatic weather and cloud patterns. And we had snow in the mountains in Tucson this past January! So keep your camera(s) handy!

I think that "being there" with your camera ready (particularly around sun-up or sundown) is the most important thing.

Filters: I have clear protective filters on all my lenses; my 90mm was saved from having its front element smashed earlier this year thanks to such a filter. Colored filters may come into play if you use B&W film (lots of references about that on the web).

Lenses: For landscapes (mostly in Pima County where I go when I have a weekend off; I work in Yuma which is less interesting photographically for me), I tend to use 50, 90, & 135mm (which works out fine for me being an M3 man). Makes the mountains look majestic (they look puny in the wide-angle lens). YMMV as always! :)
