rick123 Posted March 8, 2007 Author Share #43 Â Posted March 8, 2007 Great replies everyone! It's interesting to see how many of us still treasure our M's. And thanks Bernd for the Polaroid Swinger trip down memory lane!!! Â Rick
Riley Posted March 8, 2007 Share #44 Â Posted March 8, 2007 My father had one exactly like that! It started me off taking "real" photographs after a box camera, an Agfa Click and Agfa Clack!! Thanks for posting! Â Favorite camera's : M3 and Summarit 50/1.5 or M8 and Summilux 75/1.4 Â they had cameras then ? Â

craigrmurray Posted March 9, 2007 Share #49 Â Posted March 9, 2007 It depends on the decade for me: Â 1950s (childhood): Kodak Satellite (everset shutter), 127 Verichrome Pan 1960s (Teens): Polaroid 100 with 3000 ASA B&W, Colorpak 1970s (20s): Leica M4 w/ 35mm Summicron, Rolleiflex 2.8 Planar 1980s (30s): Leica M4-P/winder, w/35mm Summilux, Leica R4 w/ 24mm Elmarit 1990s (40s): Leica M6 w/ 35mm Summilux, Rolleiflex SL66, Sinar P 4x5 2000s (50s): Leica MP, Leica R9/DMR w/ 20-90mm, Leica M8 w/ Tri-Elmar 2010s (if alive): Box Brownie, 116 Verichrome, (unless they have digital back) Â In some ways I miss the Polaroid the most -- why doesn't someone make a digital camera with a tiny, built-in printer? woodyspedden Posted March 9, 2007 Share #51  Posted March 9, 2007 At the moment: M8 / 75 'lux  Now and perhaps forever the R9/DMR with the Leica 35-70 Elmarit. Big and beautiful. Best files I have ever seen and that includes the Canon 1DsMkII. Think you would have to go to a MF body with a 39Mpx back e.g. Hasselblad H3 and their dedicated back. But this is a forum primarily about 35mm, not MF, so I stand by the DMR and 35-70 Elmarit. Fabulous and fabulously expensive so I guess that is the downside.  Woody Spedden
mwilliamsphotography Posted March 9, 2007 Share #52 Â Posted March 9, 2007 All time: Hasselblad 503CW, 100/3.5 CFi ... Mainly film, but now also digital. Â New favorite, but only recently: Hasselblad H3D/39 and H/C100/2.2. Digital or film.
telyt Posted March 9, 2007 Share #53 Â Posted March 9, 2007 One favorite? ONE??? Â I've got several for various reasons: Â Camera body: Leicaflex SL for its rugged simplicity, precise mechanical operation and expecially for the incredible viewfinder, and the R8 with DMR for its image quality. Â Lens: The one I carry with me everywhere is the 280 f/4 APO but I couldn't see myself giving up the 400mm or 560mm f/6.8.
sdai Posted March 9, 2007 Share #54 Â Posted March 9, 2007 Lens: The one I carry with me everywhere is the 280 f/4 APO but I couldn't see myself giving up the 400mm or 560mm f/6.8. Great choice, Doug ... from many lab results I gather, the 280/4 and the 100/2.8 macro are always two of the best performers that beat anything else in every single spec in the 35mm world. telyt Posted March 9, 2007 Share #55 Â Posted March 9, 2007 ... the 280/4 and the 100/2.8 macro are always two of the best performers that beat anything else in every single spec in the 35mm world. Â The 280's performance has totally spoiled me for nearly any other lens, much like the SL's viewfinder has spoiled my appreciation of any other SLR's viewfinder. Put the SL and 280 APO together and WOW!!
jbstitt Posted March 9, 2007 Share #56 Â Posted March 9, 2007 Mamiya 7 with 65. Lots of weight and limitations, but oh what sharpness and fantastic negatives. A bit of the Leica M like working mode expanded. Â In digital it would be the Digilux 2. Fantastic shots, great size and lens, Just have to stay in ei 100. Leica missed the boat big time by not carrying this concept forward to improve this camera.

pemayeux Posted March 9, 2007 Share #59 Â Posted March 9, 2007 As much as I like the M8, I'd still have to reach for the MP and 35/1.4 ASPH.
doubice Posted March 9, 2007 Share #60 Â Posted March 9, 2007 This brings back a lot of memories! Â 1960's: ................Leica IIIb, Elmar 3.5/50mm (still have it!) 1970's: ................Leica M3, Summicron 2/35mm 1980's - 2000's: ....Leica M6, Summicron 2/35mm (still have it and use it) Current: ..............Leica M7 0.85, Summicron 2/35mm, Digilux 2 Future? ..............Probably the M8 once I gather enough courage to take the plunge.
