I took a 3 week trip to France and shot with one camera the X2, a great little tool. A pleasure to carry.

I've never posted photos, I hope they are sized correctly 8"X  @72dpi   around 250K each ...I wish I could post them bigger...... great files from that camera!

Opinions welcome and appreciated

Scratch that size posted....my  files are around 150K each. Forum wouldn't let me post more than 500K total.

How do you get your photos to show up bigger, some folks files are 250 and they posted 4 shots?

Thanks for the sizing help too

To meet the forum size requirements, export from Lightroom with the following limits: 1280 x 1280 pixels AND 500 KB Max.

Premium membership bumps the limit to 1 MB. Hence, some folks may upload 4 files of 250 KB each.

Can I suggest a couple of slight additions to what Michel has posted, not saying he is wrong, far from it, just how I do it.

Where it has "Width and Height" I change to "Long Edge". This means that I always have at least one edge at 1200 pixels. I don't shoot square, and while I am not sure I wonder if stipulating 1280x1280 will give a square result?  (I have of late wound this back a touch, using 1100 pixels, but 1200 is as big as the forum allows).

I use 72dpi, (pixels per inch), it means slightly smaller files, and anything larger is wasted on most monitors.

Everything else I leave as he has, although again of late, I have been using less than 500Kb, something between 400 - 450kbs.

Thanks for your suggestions.

However, the dpi setting is completely irrelevant for this purpose as it applies to printing only, and even the printers might ignore that setting. Is has no effect on the images shown here in the forum.

The maximum length and height allowed here is 1280 pixels. I do not recommend using this maximum, at least not for the height of the image. Most users will not be able to see the full image on their screens if it's 1280 pixels tall, and few will bother to zoom the picture so that it all can be seen at once. Also, the zooming might deteriorate the quality of the picture. You have to take into account not only the physical resolution of your screen but the framing imposed by the OS and the browser, as well.

I'm not sure I understand? Could you take a look at the photos on my post #140 and tell me how to get the most out of downloading one of them to this forum.

72 dpi / I usually size in inches......I can change. What should my long edge be @72dpi?.....Are there any other settings to keep the quality and reduce the file size ?

Basically what does this forum require  so my quality is great and I can share a photo or two...? My postage stamp size photos dont look very good.

Thanks for your help

The settings as suggested by mija1789 above seem perfectly reasonable for the purpose.

How do you mount filters on the X2?

You use a filter adapter: a tube which attaches to the camera and encloses the lens barrel. I have one on my X2.
