robola Posted May 18, 2012 Share #1 Â Posted May 18, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) With the availability of adapters for using of R lenses on Nikon or other DSLRs, I would be interested to know what the general consensus is regarding the better examples of the R lenses vs. well regarded similar focal lengths from Nikon, Zeiss etc? AB007 Posted May 19, 2012 Share #5 Â Posted May 19, 2012 I love them and I use it on Nikon DSLRs and Leica R cameras. My favs which I use regularly are 50/2, 80/1.4, 90/2, 90/2.8, 100/2.8 APO, 180/2.8 APO and 280/4 APO. The APO 1.4x and 2x extenders are superb too. I want to get a 90/2 APO . Â You can't go wrong with the 50/1.4 or the 60/2.8 macro. I do not have first hand experience with these two lenses though.

k-hawinkler Posted May 19, 2012 Share #8 Â Posted May 19, 2012 Jaap, Â Thanks. Apparently some folks converted them to Nikon use. Â APO-Extender 1.4x APO-Extender 2x APO-Extender 2x ROM Â However, I am fully aware of the issues. Â I use them on my NEX-5N and NEX-7. I wish Leica was selling a new camera I could use them on. Â Thanks again.
jaapv Posted May 19, 2012 Share #9 Â Posted May 19, 2012 Yes, that is the easy part, however, how are you going to mount your Leitaxed lenses on them ? There is no female Leitax mount.
k-hawinkler Posted May 19, 2012 Share #10 Â Posted May 19, 2012 You don't. You could mount an unmodified R-lens though. However one looks at that, it's a kludge.
AB007 Posted May 19, 2012 Share #11 Â Posted May 19, 2012 I leitaxed the APO R converter and mount my unconverted R lenses on it and use it on my Nikons. Â I have NOT converted my APO R lenses since I almost destroyed my 100/2.8 APO during the process. Some of them are easy to convert but some are not easy. I believe it was my overconfidence that almost destroyed it
colorflow Posted May 19, 2012 Share #12 Â Posted May 19, 2012 For the NEX-7 I use both the 180 APO un-Leitaxed with an R-NEX adapter and with the Leitaxed 2X giving me both 270mm and 540mm equivalent FL.
