ALD Posted May 10, 2012 Share #1 Posted May 10, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) I think it would be good form on Leicas part to apologize for using the May 10 date to garner publicity deceiving the public who were under the expectation of an M10 release. Nobody at Leica is that naieve or stupid and it makes me personally experience that I have been deceived considering that the M9 was released on a date association. earleygallery Posted May 10, 2012 Share #2 Posted May 10, 2012 I agree! A free M9M for every forum member should be enough compensation for the mental anguish.

I had tried to talk you out of it, mocking kabbalistic interpretation attempts of what was really just an arbitrary date, but you wouldn’t listen …
CalArts 99 Posted May 10, 2012 Share #6 Posted May 10, 2012 You seem to have developed a tremendous amount of anxiety over this. Perhaps you should go out for a walk, then have a drink, have a nice dinner, and relax. Life will go on, trust me.

JHAG Posted May 10, 2012 Share #8 Posted May 10, 2012 I suggest you sue the popes, the church and maybe God in the first place to have created such a date.
wentbackward Posted May 10, 2012 Share #9 Posted May 10, 2012 No M10, phew! my wallet is happy, I'm relieved. Honestly I could not have resisted, like an old cow, there for the milking, thumbs up to Leica for not taking advantage. I can't believe I've owned an M9 for so long already and still love it! jaapv Posted May 11, 2012 Share #15 Posted May 11, 2012 Plenty of people here tried to dissuade the crowd from jumping to conclusions - why should Leica apologize for the foolishness of Internet hypes?
Jeff S Posted May 11, 2012 Share #16 Posted May 11, 2012 You know you're in trouble when the Leica Rumors site is the most accurate one...again (see August/Sept, 2009). But LUF remains the most entertaining one. All Leica did was introduce some new products, on May 10th as anticipated. I expect the next round of entertainment will be in late August/September, and I've booked a front row seat (in front of my computer). Better than a TV show, with even more characters. ALD Posted May 11, 2012 Author Share #17 Posted May 11, 2012 I had tried to talk you out of it, mocking kabbalistic interpretation attempts of what was really just an arbitrary date, but you wouldn’t listen … On the 11/04/2012 in reply to a question about what was known about the announcements that were to occur on the 10th you said "nothing" but this was not true as you had the new M9M in your possession already so you knew what was to occur. I never got talked out of it because you said you knew nothing right? Mocking another person under those conditions when one had knowledge with which to mock the one without is also poor form. Leica used the May 10 date to utilize people's expectations and draw a bigger crowd to the waste of Carbon Fuels that the Berlin Circus waste of time was. They did this to get a greater amount of free advertising on the Internet. It smells MICHAEL and it looks bad and it should not have been perpetrated by Leica. May 10 was a date that Leica in their hearts that informs the brain knew should not have been chosen but their wallets decided instead and their brains were suspended. It's called the blindness of greed It's another example of how poor morality destroys the abIlity to reason properly.
k-hawinkler Posted May 11, 2012 Share #18 Posted May 11, 2012 I always thought Thorten's piece a month ago was an by Leica endorsed attempt to stear the discussion in the right direction.

If you insist on 'reading' tealeaves in teacups, you will never be disappointed, if you were only expecting a cup of tea. If you expected more than was 'poured into your cup', then you should be using a ......... mug! Oopps! Bit of a splashback there. I am unaware of Leica promising anything they did not deliver, unlike rumour mills that perhaps you have been frequenting. Personally, I would have been surprised if an M10 had been announced. I will also be surprised if one is announce for Photokina this year.
IkarusJohn Posted May 11, 2012 Share #20 Posted May 11, 2012 I had tried to talk you out of it, mocking kabbalistic interpretation attempts of what was really just an arbitrary date, but you wouldn’t listen … You did, Michael. That you did. Maybe a Leica EVIL is still somewhere down the track, but I am somewhat surprised they haven't moved on this sooner. As interesting as the M9-M is, it's not that brave. Much like the Hermes Edition, it's more of the same - another variation of the M9. None of this release will get them to their 1%. On the upside, my M9-P, my M3 and fine selection of lenses work as well now as they did yesterday, and I'm not in the market for any new camera gear for the next 10 years or so (at least, according to my wife). Cheers John
