jaapv Posted March 5, 2007 Share #21 Â Posted March 5, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) downside to the zeiss glass is that it brings up the wrong framelines and therefore even manually coding it, it will not work. And you need the coding on the 21, the cyan vignetting is severe. Â Zeiss will supply the correct 28 mm lens mount, which simulates the Leica situation, for a very modest price (about 50$) Obviously that ring can be coded by any competent instumentmaker, although I will not recommend it, as it contravenes the patent. I e-mailed Zeiss Germany., first got a return mail from a young lady that did not understand, I persisted, got a return mail from a gentleman who did understand but was not familiar with the Leica side, sent another mail and got the ring and spare screws without quibble, not even credit-card or something, just the bill afterwards. I can PM you the mail adress if you want.
robertwright Posted March 5, 2007 Share #25  Posted March 5, 2007 very exciting. Sean said in a post here that he found he could not budge the screws on the mount, probably because of some loctite being used. Did you have diffuculty swapping the mount? Thre is loctite solvent I believe, maybe a little scary putting it on the lens....also could you pm me the email that you contacted successfully?  -appreciative    . They told me to temper the lens to "a higher temperature" to loosen the Loctite, however the trick my favorite camera repairman, Wil van Manen, taught me worked like a charm: a small drop of acetone, leave for a few minutes, then turn slightly clockwise, then anticlockwise to remove.  One other thing: the coding overlaps one of the screws, but as it will be filled with (white) paint, that is not a problem. First, I got the responce that I have to send the lens to Germany (from Canada) that I did not like because of all custom problems after. Now, with the "express" responce and help from Jaap, I was able to reorder the ring again and hopefully get it soon. Great help from my (new) friend in Netherlands... Internet is a wonderful thing.
