IWC Doppel Posted April 8, 2012 Share #21 Â Posted April 8, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) The reality from my experience is some of the nicest shots I have taken have been with this lens. It has a classic look without too much resolution compromise.
Advertisement Posted April 8, 2012 Posted April 8, 2012 Hi IWC Doppel, Take a look here Anything special about an early version 50 Summilux?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
luigi bertolotti Posted April 10, 2012 Share #22  Posted April 10, 2012 The ver 1 made from 1959/1961 is beautiful. Then they introduced the one made for 40 years, perhaps what you call version 2 & 3. I never could find one I liked. Not sharp untill well stopped down, ie f 8, nasty distortion is worst than any other Leica lens. The sharpness that does exist is spread across the full frame rather than concentrated in the center like most lenses. Coma is extremely well controlled so light sources in the photo corners remain round.  So it depends on what you are looking for.  I haven't the ver 1, but have a fine Summarit 1,5, which is in practice the same lens : I admit that, wouldn'it be for the hassle of UVIR filter (hasn't a std. E thread) I'd probably use it more than the Summilux ver. 2: is really a fine lens
