I always carry a camera. A camera, not necessarily a Leica. And, if I do take the Leica out

when I’m just running around, I pick ‘’the lens of the day’’. I hate dragging a bag full of stuff

around…. unless there is a specific job at hand.

And face it, zooms are really handy. One of the most easy to carry and have ready

has been the little Ricoh GXR with Leitz lenses or the stock zoom which gets out of the

way. This is the first camera on which I have used an upside down strap connected

to the bottom 1/4x20 tripod thread…. and it’s great.

Everywhere means that I very rarely leave home without a camera - street, métro, office, lunch break, travel, shops; it's usually close at hand when gardening, and on walks, of course (though I try to refrain from taking pictures when walking and talking); when going out. It's frustrating to run into that light or scene that seizes you and not to have a means to record it. So I pick a camera when I leave home, usually two: the D-Lux 5 and a film body with one lens, Leica or not (trying to adjust films and lens to mood, weather and the day's programme). The DL5 basically replaced my Mju II with which this started (I rarely walked about with my earlier SLR gear). Sometimes I compare the time I may take to photograph with a cigarette break.

Cheers,

Alexander

P.S.: @ Robbie, very touching photos indeed, and I like the presentation quite a bit. Are you happy with Photoshelter? Not to digress here, might PM you.
