Advertisement Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 Hi La Morte, Take a look here Thumbie + Luigi half case?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jaapv Posted March 13, 2012 Share #2 Â Posted March 13, 2012 Luigi will make anything to order - provided you can get through to him.
La Morte Posted March 13, 2012 Author Share #3 Â Posted March 13, 2012 I have the half case already,- took 3 months to get here. Now I am thinking of getting the Thumbie.
jaapv Posted March 13, 2012 Share #4 Â Posted March 13, 2012 If the case has the cutout for the Thumbsup, the Thumbie should fit.
rramesh Posted March 13, 2012 Share #5 Â Posted March 13, 2012 I recently got a Luigi half case. Luigi half cases ship with or without provision for the Thumbs Up. You can also get the case cut by a professional cobbler with the requisite tools as there is a stitch line marking the cutout (you need to cut within this line). Â I have not seen the case used with the Thumbie, but since it is fixed closer to the side of the M9 it may bulge the case a bit near the Thumbie. May not be an issue as the case does get soft after some time. Â It would be best would be to seek Luigi's advise and if necessary sent the case to him for modification. La Morte Posted March 13, 2012 Author Share #6 Â Posted March 13, 2012 Thanks, but after waiting 3 months for the half case to get here,- the second one I must add,as the first was lost in the post, I will not let this one out of my site! It has indeed the stitching in place for the thumbs-up but I wanted to know about the Thumbie. I also thought it might bulge a bit, and I don't mind it to much. I just thought a user could show me?! 250swb Posted March 13, 2012 Share #7  Posted March 13, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) I can't show you a Luigi half case but the Thumbie does fit with a Zhou half case cut out for a Thumbs Up, the Thumbie just needs to be positioned level with the top of the top plate. As the Luigi cases are usually softer I think you will get away with it OK. If you order a Thumbie and it doesn't fit you can send it back to me and get a refund  Steve
OwinThomas Posted March 13, 2012 Share #8 Â Posted March 13, 2012 Luigi will make anything to order - provided you can get through to him. Â and that is the big problem
La Morte Posted March 13, 2012 Author Share #9 Â Posted March 13, 2012 I must say I was lucky in that regard,- with-in 12 hour of asking , he responded, I paid and the product was on its way. How-ever after 3 months and a million e-mails to and through, witch he responded very quickly too, we realized it was lost in transit. He Fed-ex me another at no cost and within 24 h it was here on this rock we call Africa! Looks like since his daughter started helping things are moving smoothly. Hammerhai Posted March 13, 2012 Share #10 Â Posted March 13, 2012 Had the half case, liked it. Got a Thumbs Up, liked it more. Lost the case and use the Thumbs Up.
Jon Pop Posted March 14, 2012 Share #11  Posted March 14, 2012 Paul at Classic Cases (UK) will make an M9 half case with a provision for the Thumbie...I discussed it with him, I know he bought a Thumbie as well to see the position. It's not perfect, but it's pretty good and he makes a nice case...good leather, prompt service (and responses to emails....), and no website bizarreness of circus colours  And I love the Thumbie, btw.....really, really nice addition to the M9 (or an M8). Ario Arioldi Posted March 14, 2012 Share #12 Â Posted March 14, 2012 Can some one please tell me and ad an image if possible, if the "Thumbie" work with the Luigi half case?Much appreciated. Â Streamlight Photography I'm afraid, not. I have a Thumbie as well as a Luigi's case. The free space above the upper border of the case (without the special cut which can be done on request) is just a couple of mm, definitely not enough for the Thumbie. If you have already the case you may try to install a Thumbs-up over the case, I did it and it works: the thickness of the case does not prevent a safe installation of the Thumbs-up. All the above is about the case I have, I cannot guarantee that every case will be exactly the same.
pappa Posted March 14, 2012 Share #13 Â Posted March 14, 2012 Morning folks! Â I cut it out myself. Quite easy, not 100% beautiful - but works very well, really. Be sure to stay within those "lines" though ! Â Â Regards, pappa
lawman Posted March 16, 2012 Share #14 Â Posted March 16, 2012 I have both the Thumbs Up EP-1 and the Thumbie which I purchased so that I could use the 21mm viewfinder. Unfortunately I bought the EP-1 before the 21mm finder and so didn't think enough about the accessory hotshoe. The EP-1 works great with the Luigi case after cutting it out, however the case will not work with the Thumbie as it conflicts with the hold down strap over the strap eyelet of the camera. Therefore, to use the Thumbie, you must unfortunately forgo the Luigi half case.
smleica Posted March 16, 2012 Share #15  Posted March 16, 2012 Hi, I'm sure Luigi would custom build you a case depending on your exact needs  I contacted him regarding a half-case and deluxe strap for my M9 and he was really helpful - he had the case and strap to me within 3 days of ordering (shipped to UK by Fed Ex Express)
Mr. Thompson Posted March 16, 2012 Share #16 Â Posted March 16, 2012 I asked Luigi this in December. Not a problem, you just have to ask for a Thumbie compatible case when you place your order.
jamriman Posted March 17, 2012 Share #17 Â Posted March 17, 2012 Luigi made one for me to accommodate both the thumbs up and thumbie. Well suffice to say I still had to cut a piece of leather off. Lugi was kind enough to send me some of the black paint sealant he uses on the edge of the leather. Easy to do with an exacta knife.
