BJDrew Posted March 9, 2012 Share #1 Posted March 9, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) It has been a sad few weeks and happy ones as well. In order to help finance the purchase of an engagement ring, I sold my Leica M8. I trust it has found a good home. While I always poked some good-natured fun at the M8 for it's foibles and misgivings, it was always a joy to use and seeing the world through that finder was memorable. Ultimately, it was a flawed little machine that made this photographer very happy. Here's my little walk down memory lane. Photos abound... Leica M8 - A Eulogy Welcome, dear visitor! wda Posted March 9, 2012 Share #4 Posted March 9, 2012 Not knowing the current object of your dreams, it is indeed a sad day to lose a camera which enabled you to express your vision so admirably! Come back soon!

luigi bertolotti Posted March 9, 2012 Share #6 Posted March 9, 2012 Fine article... and, be confident, an engagement ring given to the right person is worth much more than any Leica... (from one with 21 years of happy marriage... but, in my case, always with Leicas around... )

Howiepix Posted March 11, 2012 Share #9 Posted March 11, 2012 Congratulations, great post! I loved the you tube proposal, I didn't have an M8 to sell when we got married, but for our 5th wedding anniversary, my lovely wife completely stunned me by presenting me with one. It's 10 years this December and the M8 is still loved, but not quite as much as I love my wife!!!

Keyne Posted March 28, 2012 Share #14 Posted March 28, 2012 Great article and I really liked your pics. I have an M8 and really thought hard before I bought it and havent regretted it at all. I love it and it makes me happy. Your comment below summed it up for me perfectly. I feel exactly the same way. When I use it or look at it on the shelf after I come home... all the finicky stuff goes away. "The Leica M8 isn’t the best camera if you’re a numbers photographer. It’s finicky, has a noisy sensor, 1984 digital interface and a 2003 resolution. The colors can be baffling and without the proper filter, good luck photographing anything black. But… That doesn’t matter. Not to me."

daubsphoto Posted April 2, 2012 Share #16 Posted April 2, 2012 I wish your marriage better luck than mine I was saving for a new M4-P when a buddy suggested I spend the money instead on an engagement ring.... I should have thought for myself a little better back then, but I was young and stupid. Now, I have a wife who supports my Leica habit!
