I need a lens for my M8.2. My preferred focal width with film is 35mm so my choices are 25mm or 28mm, which translate to 33mm & 37mm. Of course, I´d be using this lens for film work too.

Now, I´ve been offered a 2nd hand Zeiss Biogon 25mm and a 28mm Elmarit (3rd version). Zeiss would be more expensive as I´d need to buy the hood and finder (for use on film body).

Which one??

The Elmarit sounds cheapish at +900€ and it includes the hood. Glass seems to be in pristine condition too...

And of course it´s a Leica.

My only worry is whether the 37-38mm focal lenght would be too narrow.

Which framelines does your Zeiss lens brings up, 28/90 or 24/35? 28 is too narrow, 24 is OK if you don't wear spectacles.

It brings the 24mm frameline. And yes, I do wear spectacles. ;)

I have an M8 curretntly and a 21, 24 and 28 and 35mm lenses

The 28 is very usable on the M8, I have a 35 and use it much, much less. The 24 and 21 both 'feel' wide.

If I had to pick one I would probably go 28, but I would be quite happy with the 24 as a secondbest one size lens

I'd go the 28/2.8 as well, oops see you already have.

In my case M8, and the 28/2.8 was perfect. I ended up with a ZM21/2.8 as well, but alas am selling the M8 and getting the M9, so need to liquidate the spares, just have the 50/2 for a while.
