IkarusJohn Posted February 13, 2012 Share #3 Posted February 13, 2012 23.6% increase in photography sales (in all product categories) compared to the same quarter last year - there must have been an increase in production to meet demand. 79 more staff assembling cameras and polishing lenses ... Ellie Posted February 13, 2012 Share #4 Posted February 13, 2012 I've been watching 3-4 Leica resellers here (non English websites selling in Scandinavia) and since October the most expensive lenses, Noctilux and Summilux sell out in hours while the other are still in stock!? Perhaps selling more of the most expensive stuff contributes more to the sales increase?
IkarusJohn Posted February 13, 2012 Share #5 Posted February 13, 2012 Well, I'd say there is no rhyme nor reason to the allocations. I've been top of the waiting list for a Noct with a reputable dealer since last June. He didn't get a single Noctilux for the whole of 2011.

jdlaing Posted February 13, 2012 Share #8 Posted February 13, 2012 I bought that stock when it was roughly $8.00 a share. If only everything else was relative I'd be ordering an M9-P right about now.
earleygallery Posted February 14, 2012 Share #9 Posted February 14, 2012 Great they are making so much money. Now they will not need to raise prices OTOH as the most expensive items are selling so fast, the prices must be too cheap...
luigi bertolotti Posted February 14, 2012 Share #10 Posted February 14, 2012 Funny they define the market of sport optics as "much more fiercely competitive"... clearly, they feel to enjoy a lot their "niche" position in the photo market... (indeed, I admit to have a 8x20 Zeiss binocular... bought >15 years ago... 30 years warranty... difficult I ever will buy another in my life... )
SJP Posted February 14, 2012 Share #11 Posted February 14, 2012 I heard today that the M8/9 battery costs a trifling 95 euro now (75 when I last looked a few years ago). Whooosh - down the drain. Somehow this explains the topic of this thread:D
Dan States Posted February 15, 2012 Share #12 Posted February 15, 2012 +1____________ FrankR Ha HA! Good one! More likely they will decide there is more up-side and jack up prices again. No, seriously....they will.
