andym911 Posted October 27, 2012 Share #21 Posted October 27, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) About the Elmar 3.5/50, some are better than the others and some are reallly exception due certainly from the combination (at random) of best elements put together during their assembly.I will say based on the pictures posted in here during this last years that the one that James owned and the one from Andy are part of this ones JC I tend to agree that there are good copies and exceptional copies of this and other Elmar's. I can surely say that mine performs better than my Summaron, and is more enjoyable to use. I find it best for close up 1-3 meters and is perfect for people shots, thats where I enjoy it the most. If the lighting is good it really delivers a lovely image. If the lighting is either too direct or muddy then it struggles. thanks for the information and comments. andy

Pyrogallol Posted January 26, 2018 Share #23 Posted January 26, 2018 This is a picture taken with my 35mm Elmar, scanned from a darkroom print. Sharper than might be expected and into the light, uncoated pre-war lens. Welcome, dear visitor! Amazing quality actually, but I understand from JC that there are difference between the lenses. Lex
