spylaw4 Posted August 20, 2012 Share #61 Posted August 20, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) +1 I think the street photography section is going to thrive. I think there are going to be lots of complaints re this along the lines of "it is" "no it isn't" "yes it is" Etc. ad nauseam

I feel I should donate. V/r Michael

NZDavid Posted August 20, 2012 Author Share #65 Posted August 20, 2012 This looks excellent. I think it work really well. One minor criticism: There is no such word as "splitted".
Michael Geschlecht Posted August 20, 2012 Share #66 Posted August 20, 2012 Hello Andy, I can't seem to pop up the New Format. It's probably just me. I know very little about computers. There might be some others out there w/ the same problem & it may be helpful if you could put a copy of the New Format on the regular screen. I did notice 1 thing I would like to comment about: The transformation of the Film Forum: It seems to me the transformation of the Film Forum into a Darkroom category & separate M Camera section would be like the transformation of the Ham & Eggs category (a traditional North American breakfast category) into the: 1. Ham category. 2. Yolk category. W/o regard for the: 3. Egg Whites. Then: Treating them as replacement dishes, ie: Ham & Yolks in place of Ham & Eggs. Someone seems to have forgotten about Barnack's, Flex's, CL's & the like. Unless all of this is accounted for in the part that won't appear on my screen. Best Regards, Michael

Best Regards, Michael Just for the record, there were lots of people contributing to this new format but the decision on how it should be is Andreas's and his alone. It is impossible to make everyone happy. The new listing is in that link to the blog I posted a few posts back. It's also in the News section of the forum. It's not on a pop-up, it's just a normal page graphic. Barnacks, Leicaflexes etc would be in the collectors and historic section.
bill Posted August 21, 2012 Share #70 Posted August 21, 2012 I appreciate I am being dense, but where is it then? Is this an announcement of changes to come, in which case when do they go live? Regards, Bill
andybarton Posted August 21, 2012 Share #71 Posted August 21, 2012 http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-news/2012/08/leica-forum-new-structure/ The changes will happen soon.
bill Posted August 21, 2012 Share #72 Posted August 21, 2012 Yes, read all that. Wasn't clear when, or if I had to refresh my cache or something - or get IT to do it Regards, Bill
Messsucherkamera Posted August 21, 2012 Share #73 Posted August 21, 2012 Any more thoughts on this ? I for one would still like one How about a page for specific lenses? I know there are scores of Leica lenses, so not a page for each lens ever made. I was thinking of pages for the most used and/or desired lenses - Noctilux (all versions) 28 Summicron 35 Summicron 50 Summicron 35 Summilux 50 Summilux 75 Summilux Each page could be a place to discuss the lens and applications for it as well as a place to post images made with it. I think this would be a good addition to the website.
jaapv Posted August 21, 2012 Share #74 Posted August 21, 2012 Keeping a quick tally of lenses normally discussed here that would produce dozens of subforums.
Michael Geschlecht Posted August 21, 2012 Share #75 Posted August 21, 2012 Hello Andy, Thank you for replying to my Post. When I wrote "pop up" I was not using it in the computer sense. I should have said "appear". When I tried to make the new schedule appear today the same thing happened. Both in this Thread & in "News". The Thread above the "New Schedule" Thread in "News" which is about "Lens Codes" worked just fine. Both in this Thread & in "News" when I tried to bring up the new format by clicking on the little red "x": The computer said "This image could not be loaded". Also: I understand the final choice belongs to Andreas. I was just trying to be helpful. Best Regards, Michael
pop Posted August 21, 2012 Share #76 Posted August 21, 2012 When I tried to make the new schedule appear today the same thing happened. Michael - the new schedule is not yet available. Andreas "printed" the outline of what it will look like once it will be finished. The new structure will not be an "option" for those who elect to use it. It will be the new structure which will be in use by all. So, you have nothing to do in order to apply the new structure. Just be patient and it will come. Michael Geschlecht Posted August 21, 2012 Share #77 Posted August 21, 2012 Hello Philipp, Thank you. Like you, I'm not an impatient person by nature. I was just trying to find out if what was happening w/ me was because of my lack of ability w/ computers (most likely) or because of something else. Best Regards, Michael
Peter H Posted August 21, 2012 Share #78 Posted August 21, 2012 Oh well, two rertrograde steps in one in my opinion, but since so many members want more sub-forums, I hope for their sakes that I'm completely wrong, and that it proves a great success.
