tuanvo1982 Posted January 18, 2012 Share #1 Posted January 18, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) I am thinking of a Leica point and shot with Autofocus(film). I expect a good quality of picture so I think fixed lens should be fine. Could you please suggest me ? Thanks

andybarton Posted January 18, 2012 Share #2 Posted January 18, 2012 Try to find a Leica CM. Fantastic little camera, with an incredible lens - I wish I'd never sold mine...
tuanvo1982 Posted January 18, 2012 Author Share #3 Posted January 18, 2012 Do you think how much it should cost in the market now?
bill Posted January 18, 2012 Share #4 Posted January 18, 2012 They don't come up often, and are beyond economical repair if they die on you. I agree with Andy though, beautiful little camera. In the same class and with autofocus you can find the Nikon 35ti and the Contax T2. Never had a Nikon but I had a couple of Contaxes and it was a formidable performer. As always, have a look at completed auctions on eBay for indicative pricing and the secondhand website for London Camera Exchange who seem to do a brisk trade in such things. k_g_wolf ✝ Posted January 18, 2012 Share #5 Posted January 18, 2012 Also have a look at the LEICA-Z2X. It´s from a Panasonic stable and "solidly" bulit out of plastic, but mine is still going strong. You can find them VERY cheap these days. best GEORG
Gift Posted January 18, 2012 Share #6 Posted January 18, 2012 Leica MiniLux is another option. Same lens as CM and cheeper. There's good examples from time to time on sale.
tuanvo1982 Posted January 18, 2012 Author Share #7 Posted January 18, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) I think 40mm lens is better than zoom lens. And CM is more configable than MiniLux. I will look for that CM. Thank you every one
jaapv Posted January 18, 2012 Share #8 Posted January 18, 2012 The Leica Minizoom was not all that impressive for lens quality. I would advise to go for one of the models with a fixed FL.

Regards, Bill If the price of CM is too expensive then I will go for Minilux with Fied FL 40 2.5. from what I see, MiniLux(40mm 2.4) is around £200 and CM should be £300 or £350 I guess:)
koray Posted January 18, 2012 Share #11 Posted January 18, 2012 If the price of CM is too expensive then I will go for Minilux with Fied FL 40 2.5. from what I see, MiniLux(40mm 2.4) is around £200 and CM should be £300 or £350 I guess:) Regarding Leica Minilux 40mm I should warn you about the dreaded shutter error (E02) which is nearly impossible to fix. I am saying that, because being a tinkerer, I have tried my luck on that. The shutter fault is a result of micro-cracks in a badly specified ribbon connector that links the shutter/diaphragm to the main PCB. I have tried soldering the cracks (nope), replacing the connector with a new custom built ribbon cable (nope), and so on. I finally gave up and sold it on, for parts/repair. Shame, really, a really beautiful camera otherwise (oh and I even didn't shoot any photos with it). I considered salvaging its lens (in all metal barrel) to put on an M camera (since it is much easier to fabricate custom parts today), but then "...naah I don't have time". Once in a while I see another Minilux coming up on ebay with the same error, and I just smile and pass. But then, twice this year a Leica CM with shutter error 01 came up on ebay (each for over £150!). I am wondering if this is a similar issue? Minilux shutter is a COPAL one, maybe CM is the same? Anyway, IMHO buying a Minilux (or CM) is a risky adventure. Cheers, K.
Wolfshark Posted January 18, 2012 Share #12 Posted January 18, 2012 Hi all! I'm new here and have been contemplating a Leica CM as well. Are there any technicians or repair places who work on these should a problem arise( other than the shutter error)?

Graf Lomo Posted January 18, 2012 Share #14 Posted January 18, 2012 Try the Leica Mini. It's cheap and great. I love it. http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/film-forum/130827-i-love-my-leica-mini.html

sandro Posted January 18, 2012 Share #16 Posted January 18, 2012 I still have and occasionally use the Z2X and I still find it amazing, in spite of the criticism of some about its zoom lense. That zoom lense was the reason I bought it long ago and it is very nice camera. For those moments when even a M is too much to carry along. masjah Posted January 18, 2012 Share #17 Posted January 18, 2012 The well known Scottish dealer has got several Miniluxes, including one that is classed as "used" but "unused" - that is, somebody's old stock that has been sitting around. This means that its ribbon cable would have had no actuations, and you should get some sort of decent life from it. I recently bought a "new old stock" (or "old new stock" if you prefer!) black Minilux from them, because I wanted a black one. I use it very occasionally, but mainly use my CM, which is splendid, and better in several ways.
NZDavid Posted January 19, 2012 Share #18 Posted January 19, 2012 Google for a Mini 3. Fixed 32mm lens, ultra light and simple, and should be very affordable.
MPerson Posted February 1, 2012 Share #19 Posted February 1, 2012 Anyone know roughly how long the Minilux lasts before the cable goes on the fritz?
