POKO Posted February 23, 2007 Share #1 Â Posted February 23, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi, Â So, on a happy note, my third camera has arrived and it, unlike the previous two, appears to be working properly. Â Gone throught the range of tests for the range of potential problems - so far so good. Â Hope this is it... Â Per

Per, Maybe you could make a list of your tests and techniques so that other members receiving new cameras could run through them as well?!

A few shots of a white wall at various ISO settings would be the 1st test I would do. It would test for dust in the camera and be a test for the "Line" phenomenon as well. billh Posted February 24, 2007 Share #7  Posted February 24, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) A friend had his M8 for a day or two and it failed. He sent it back, and waited....and it returned and worked for a week or so. It is dead again, so if he chooses to take a chance on a new one instead on a refund and reverting to Canon, this will be his third one too. What is going on with these cameras? What is failing? Leica must know the answer to this question by now.

Leica must know the answer to this question by now. Â I'm the friend, and I have decided to dig in my heels. I will persist until I get a working camera. An additional concern is that at this point the date of sale of my camera is Dec. 11, 2006, so that is when my warranty period began. During that 2 months, I have only used the camera for a total of 9 days, so I have "lost" nearly 2 months of warranty. By the time I get another camera, it might be closer to 3 months. How long can this go on?
