Hi Hsin,

Listen Hsin; if you want real help, just let me know, and I'll bring cousin Vinnie and a couple of baseball bats and we'll take care of business. We don't take no s**t from nobody!;)

Your buddy Ed.

My D2 started getting horizontal lines in the image and the color picked up an orange tinge. I did not know about the recall. I called Leica NJ. The woman who answered said to send the camera in. I did. I called to check on the cost and was told - no charge. They did not mention the recall.

It looks like they will send it back in 4 - 5 weeks -- prepaid. I really can't complain.

I like the camera because it feels like the 35's I grew up with. The only complaint I have is that my photo-grey progressive bifocals are incompatable with the viewfinder on a bright day.

Dear all,

I just can't believe this!!! The Paris Leica reparing store was actually trying to cheat on me!!!

Today, while I was browsing through the Leica web site, I found this page where you can enter your serial number and track your camera reparing. So I entered the number noted on the receipt that was given to me when I sent my D2 to the Leica reparing store. And the result is:

Did you guys see that? The reparing order was passed on 22 Feb while I called on the 23th, this reparing store told me the follow:

I called for more information today and they said Leica will send me a 760€ innvoice! It's like saying, "760€ or your 1600€ camera in the trash can".

While Leica had clearly stated the sensor exchange will be in their charge, I really don't understand why they still want to charge me on this.

Hsin

You just can't trust French!!!!

Hsin,

Thank you for opinion of the French. In this forum, people are usually quite courteous and respecful of eachother. So please, do not mix your D2 problems with the French, for they are not due to the French. OK ?

Do not forget that the one who judges can be judged the same way.

And do not forget that many names associated with the origins of photography are French. But maybe names like Jacques Daguerre, Nicephore Niepce or Auguste and Louis Lumière are unknown to you. They were French.

Have you ever heard of Henri Carter-Bresson ? His name is very much connected to Leica and he was admired by numbers of Leicaphiles. He was French too...

Gérard, I couldn't agree more.

For the record, I always enjoy visiting France, and even a little episode with the Gendarmerie for being somewhat overly-exuberant on the fabulous autoroutes last year was amicably settled. "Bonne Route" were their parting words...

Chouhsin, you may be upset about the way your D2 repair has been handled but it's ultimately down to clear communications and reasonable expectations of what Leica and your dealer can do for you.

If you are not happy, I am sorry, but the entire French nation is not to blame!

It's the Leica's official reparing store in Paris. They are supposed to be honest people. (although I don't really trust French)

The thing is that I didn't note my serial number so I can't call Leica for more details. Stupid me.

i think for all theses questions ask Leica direkt via e-mail. Its the only place where you get the answers you need. Dont start with Leica bashing before you get a answer from the CS.

Hsin,

On looking at your pofile, I notice you live in the country you criticize. Nobody asked you to choose this country for a living. I know of many worse places!

Je vous dirais bien ce que je pense de vous en Français... Cela tiendrait en bien peu de lettres, car votre attitude et vos commentaires sont tout simplement honteux...

OK guys, Hsin has apologised for his hasty words, despite the fact he has a problem to sort with the appropriate authority(s). Gerard, no point fuelling the fire with opinion. I believe French honour has been restored to its rightful place.

Peace to all as I have work to attend now.
