marknorton Posted February 23, 2007 Share #1 Â Posted February 23, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) My track 'n trace of my lens order letter to Solms showed it was undelivered, so I asked Leica if the order had been received and the helpful and professional Cornelia confirmed it had been and apologised for the delay saying they had had a "huge amount of orders" and that nearly the whole department has been caught by a wave of 'flu. Â Seems to confirm other news that lenses are back-ordered and that Leica is doing well from the M8. I wouldn't be surprised if there's more revenue coming in from the drag-along lens business as from the M8 itself. Â The 'flu thing might account for delays elsewhere - lens coding, camera upgrades, firmware development and testing, shipping, filters - frustrating for us on the outside but good to see Leica doing good business from the M8 and hopefully the other digital products as well. Guest stnami Posted February 23, 2007 Share #2 Â Posted February 23, 2007 .....even politicians at election time no longer use the 'flu'...........then again my cat ate all the lens codes and refuses to cough them up:)
jaapv Posted February 23, 2007 Share #3 Â Posted February 23, 2007 .....even politicians at election time no longer use the 'flu'...........then again my cat ate all the lens codes and refuses to cough them up:) :D However, it may be true. A few friends of me in the South of Germany and the Czech Republic have reported being very ill.
cbretteville Posted February 23, 2007 Share #4 Â Posted February 23, 2007 This year's flue is really bad and very contagious. We're currently hit hard up here north. It might very well be the case a little further south as well. Adding insult to injury, when you're through the flue it self it is not uncommon to get a round of stomach flue. Â That must be true. I was forced today to close my restaurant, because 6 from 8 cooks got this "flu" and 5 from 8 waiters too. One other day like that and I can forget to purchase my Noctilux. Best wishes and health to you all !
like_no_other Posted February 23, 2007 Share #8 Â Posted February 23, 2007 To be honest If workers in Germany have to much workload they say 'I have the flue'.
mitchell Posted February 23, 2007 Share #9 Â Posted February 23, 2007 I spoke to a dealer today who says most M lenses are way back ordered. There is a huge surge of orders, and he's very frustrated with Leica because of their lack of communication with him. Â Best, Â Mitchell

It means that they put their heads in the sand because they have too many problems and don't want to hear anymore.
jaapv Posted February 23, 2007 Share #11 Â Posted February 23, 2007 There a quite a number of Ostrich-farms in Germany nowadays, so that could possibly be the case. However I suspect the old German custom of getting a Krankenschein may well be the real cause. And the flu-epidemic in western Europe appears to be hitting a high. oculus_ny Posted February 24, 2007 Share #13 Â Posted February 24, 2007 FWIW, the old work excuse for a hangover used to be "the flu." Maybe it's the Leibfraumilche. (ugh: it's been so long I'm not sure how to spell it anymore).

edlaurpic Posted February 24, 2007 Share #15 Â Posted February 24, 2007 Flu report is apparently true. A friend on the Austiran/German border says it's there, too. Â Also heard today from Solms that the 30% off lenses destined for the USA will be shipped late next week to Leica USA in NJ, who will contact recipients and charge their credit cards, and then ship the lenses out.... so in the U.S. we should have our lenses (the ones that aren't backordered, I guess) in about two weeks. fjmcsu Posted February 24, 2007 Share #16 Â Posted February 24, 2007 Tony Rose of pop flash photo stated last week that he/ Leica is way back ordered on just about everything related to the M8.Hopefully this shipment will reduce the backlog!

fotografr Posted February 24, 2007 Share #18 Â Posted February 24, 2007 This is particularly bad news to me because last night my "repaired" M8 once again shut down with electronic failure. This time it lasted just over a week and 360 actuations. I am now thinking words I can't print here!!!
