hoppyman Posted December 12, 2011 Share #3 Posted December 12, 2011 Doug this is a dramatic and effective environmental portrait, or a horror movie image that Mrs mouse threatens her wayward children with! Your technical skill is again very evident in your tonal control too, preserving detail throughout the white plumage here.
Rona!d Posted December 12, 2011 Share #4 Posted December 12, 2011 Again a very good proof that DMR still rules in the 35mm digital world! And again a very good proof that it always depends on how good the photographer is
Messsucherkamera Posted December 12, 2011 Share #5 Posted December 12, 2011 Outstanding photograph - congratulations! The egret has no anonymous middle men to do the dirty work of killing, cleaning and packaging his meat in little white shrink wrapped styrofoam trays as we humans do. Photos such as this are a reminder of the reality of nature and how far removed we humans have become from the natural world. The Egret eats the mouse. The mouse eats insects. The owl and raccoon eats the Egret. Such is the circle of life.
stuny Posted December 12, 2011 Share #6 Posted December 12, 2011 Doug - Superb as usual, and a different interpretation of "the decisive moment." You've been away from us too long. I trust you are well?

andybarton Posted December 14, 2011 Share #8 Posted December 14, 2011 Fantastic. I've seen "Wildlife Photograph of the Year" awards go to far lesser shots than this one.

ddp Posted December 14, 2011 Share #14 Posted December 14, 2011 Reminds me of something I would have viewed in an Audubon print book when I was younger - and repeatedly go back to view it! Almost unreal what you caught with the "look" of the mouse.
StephenPatterson Posted December 14, 2011 Share #15 Posted December 14, 2011 Simply Stunning!!! Even made my cat jealous. If we had a few egrets in the back yard he would be out of a job!!! This is one "contact sheet" I would love to see (or whatever we call the digital equivalent). Congrats!!! Stephen

stunsworth Posted December 14, 2011 Share #20 Posted December 14, 2011 Doug you should be thinking about what competition to enter this into - either nationally or internationally. It's that good.
