k_g_wolf ✝ Posted December 2, 2011 Share #6 Posted December 2, 2011 Wow, I never saw that before and I’m sure glad I did! Same here ! Great steeljob !! Just try and make one for yourself, me thinks this is a true artist who dived deep into the LEITZ-LEICA-history. Wouldn´t mind one of these for my garden. ho_co Posted December 2, 2011 Share #11 Posted December 2, 2011 That's gorgeous! Talk about a hodge-podge! Almost every feature that a Leica has ever had is there. (Except the IIIf's synch dial. ) And it's strangely consistent: There's a dial for the slow shutter speeds as well as the main dial, which is lacking the slow speeds. Obviously designed by someone who knows and understands the camera. I like the two shutter buttons. And interestingly, it has two rewind releases, but no film counter. Seems like an omission till you remember it's digital. Thanks for posting!
pop Posted December 2, 2011 Share #12 Posted December 2, 2011 Does it suffer from focus shift, too?
sdai Posted December 2, 2011 Share #13 Posted December 2, 2011 Hold your horses before calling it a fake - it appears to be endorsed by the company and Leica AG got one for themselves! ;-)
earleygallery Posted December 2, 2011 Share #14 Posted December 2, 2011 No rangefinder on it?!! Personally, I think as a piece of sculpture, it's pretty hideous.
brill64 Posted December 5, 2011 Share #15 Posted December 5, 2011 what an amazing artwork! it's mindboggling how all those details came together in tungsten stainless steel. what i can't figure out is if the clay model is a prototype to build a scale design or the basis of a mould for the final finished steel version. i imagine most of it is welded and then plated and polished...anyway, fascinating to see the process! thanks for posting.. giordano Posted December 5, 2011 Share #16 Posted December 5, 2011 I think it's based on an M10 prototype. Note the manual wind so many people have asked for, the new dust- and moisture-proof shutter release, and the folding crank for the dynamo that charges the Li-ion battery (the battery cover on the front is for the cell that keeps the clock going even if the main battery hits its low-voltage cutout).
