According to Dr. Kaufmann:

None of us have so far discussed or discovered Leica´s new surprises next year.

What on earth are those solutions that have not yet been discussed?

Here it is obviously still an opportunity to continue to speculate.

New threads are welcome.:D

What on earth are those solutions that have not yet been discussed?

Not yet discussed? To the best of my memory (not a good bet):

A digital M with a larger RAM (buffer), faster bus, faster consecutive shots and second battery that operates in parallel in an optional hand grip, and USB-3.

Options and Modules_________

Leica branded dual-battery charger.

Leica branded, portable mass-storage device powered by two rechargeable batteries (same as M9 battery).

GPS module (plugs into USB - already exists by 2rd party but has to be made Leica compatible) It is a time-code device. Will also permit Network Time synchronization.

Reasonably priced cloud storage for registered Leica camera owners - new owners, and past two-year new camera purchasers, both M7 and subsequent Leica digital camera buyers. Leica branded.

And a Brand New Strap! Reversible - on side brightly branded, other side plain.:)

I'm good at unfounded rumors:D. Now that Leica is out of the woods financially and the mirrorless market is opening up with everybody starting more or less from zero, Leica will revive the R system with a mirrorless full frame R camera, capable of using both new AF R lenses and heritage R lenses. Pricing in the 5000 to 6000 Euro bracket, lenses comparable to M lenses.:p

That would definitely drain the M-market of users... if, they include a nice Leica-branded strap. :D

A liveview enabled mirrorless camera could of course take R as well as M lenses. Whatever they call such a beast, it would revive the R system to some extent. The only question is, what it might be called. Probably not "R", possibly "M" or something entirely different.

If the camera requires manual aperture to use an R lens, it just won't work out as a consume camera. I use a digital camera with live view which requires manual focus, manual aperture and it's a monstrous hassle, very slow to use.

Automatic aperture would not be vastly difficult to incorporate, even in an adapter.

I hope they consider such an adapter. I can imagine how it could be made to work if the lens can send the shooting aperture to the meter. With high hopes, I might get a couple good R lenses now to avoid the rise in used prices.

A mirrorless camera would certainly not use lenses as large and heavy as the R range which were developed for a SLR mirror box

I would expect an APS-C interchangeable lens camera with an adaptor for the M series

The M will evolve with a whole bunch of things, hybrid view-finder, better ISO but I assume the same workflow

I don't see what the lens weight has to do with it. It is simple engineering to design a mount and bodyshell that are strong enough. Even on the Leica R the mount was not screwed to the mirror assembly but to the front of the bodyshell. I used to bend the mount out of true on my R cameras by long heavy lenses and Odin had a special tool to straighten it. They could do it three times before the bodyshell was overstressed. The measuring tool used the reflection of the mirror to determine the amount.

At the moment there are plenty of folks using the R lenses on the NEX mirrorless cameras.
