Shade Posted November 3, 2011 Share #21 Posted November 3, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) I highly doubt it, Leica is catching up on demand as it is. I havent even managed to find any chrome m9p where I live in..
Advertisement Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 Hi Shade, Take a look here Leica to Launch M10 before Photokina?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
plasticman Posted November 8, 2011 Share #22 Posted November 8, 2011 M12 on 12.12.12 Crikey I guess this means there'll never be an M13!
SJP Posted November 10, 2011 Share #23 Posted November 10, 2011 Personally I find the M8 => M9 improvement marginal, so have never felt the urge to upgrade (if that is the right term). Given that the M9 is pretty much the state of the art I cannot really see how they can implement further improvements to justify forking out additional 6000 euro or so. Only if they would implement live view, video, 20.000 ISO, autofocus and few other similar things would they be able to position a different market, that most M-users are not interested in anyhow. So Leica has a problem - what can we improve on the M9 that would shake the boat? It is a bit like MP & M7 - there is nothing much left to improve. Hammers, screwdrivers, electric drills are similarly at the end of the line.
jaapv Posted November 10, 2011 Share #24 Posted November 10, 2011 Weathersealing would be an upgrade incentive for some users, and a click-on EVF would make the camera interesting for R lens owners.
stevelap Posted November 10, 2011 Share #25 Posted November 10, 2011 Perhaps a hybrid electro/optical VF allowing for inbuilt diopter correction and variable magnification. If it could be done without adding bulk and if its features could be user selectable to allow for de-cluttering if required. Focus confirmation for tired eyes might be handy too........... I am not particularly pro or con, it is not a major issue for me. Some seem to take huge offence to even mentioning live view, video etc. which would be the consequence of implementing a click-on-able EVF. They all require a cmos sensor. rosuna Posted November 11, 2011 Share #29 Posted November 11, 2011 A CMOS sensor allows for live view and better high ISO behavior. That is a jump large enough from the current state represented by the M9 camera. A much better screen at the back would be necessary, and a great addition and complement to the viewfinder/rangefinder. A slimmer body and a better digital interface would make the camera more sexy too. All that considering a classical successor for the M9, of course, this is, a true rangefinder camera. 4X5B&W Posted November 21, 2011 Share #30 Posted November 21, 2011 I firmly believe that the Audi Design Group Titanium M9 is the prototypical body design for the M10 (less the Titanium)........a handsome design IMHO. So what technical improvements could be incorporated? Focus confirmation. Higher (than the 6.8 micron M8/M9 sensor) resolution. Faster frame rate/larger buffer. Live view (if possible). Higher resolution display. These features would be enough to justify me moving up from my M8.

Yes, I've said that myself that the titanium M9 is the look for the M10. The design is modern yet classic too. So, when is photkina?

pico Posted November 26, 2011 Share #36 Posted November 26, 2011 Is saving weight a pressing concern? I think not. A light body could also lead to complaints about how a heavy lens carries poorly with it.

jaques Posted March 15, 2012 Share #38 Posted March 15, 2012 firmly believe that the Audi Design Group Titanium M9 is the prototypical body design for the M10 (less the Titanium)........a handsome design IMHO. I also hope not. I find that an ugly camera. I much prefer the style of the new fuji. M10 should be classic M or be called somehting else... actually I hope the m10 does look like that: then no matter what features it has I won't want it. My prediction: 1) Leica and Fuji are working on a revolutionary new FF 'rangefinder' camera and new EVIL cameras... leica got together with Fuji when the x100 came out (slaying the X1)- have been working together since then. New camera in May will be the EVIL one... Fuji and Leica will then release their FF version/s at Photokina.
Ellie Posted March 15, 2012 Share #39 Posted March 15, 2012 I've been thinking about a EVF/live view camera too close to the classic M... the M-lenses has expensive rangefinder mechanics that would be redundant with an EVF camera, and lenses could be made with the same IQ at (much?) lower price for an all electronic camera. stevelap Posted March 15, 2012 Share #40 Posted March 15, 2012 M Lenses are simply manual lenses..........the rangefinder is in the body.
