Basal Skull Posted October 17, 2011 Share #1 Â Posted October 17, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi Sorry for the noob question but am wondering where the model number of a leica lens is printed. I see it on the box, but wonder if it's on the lens somewhere. When you input the lens manually in the M9, it lists the lens model number in the menu along with the focal length and lens name etc. I just can't find the model number on my lenses... (except on my 28 elmarit it's listed on the barrel under 'made in germany', but not on my other lenses) Â thanx in advance.

hx911 Posted October 17, 2011 Share #2 Â Posted October 17, 2011 Hi... (except on my 28 elmarit it's listed on the barrel under 'made in germany', but not on my other lenses) ...... Â Yes, there its on all my lenses, under or next to the 'made in ...' Â what lenses do you have that cant find the numbers on? Old glass? Just had a look on the net, and 'older' lenses don't seem to have the number on them?!?!?!
Basal Skull Posted October 17, 2011 Author Share #3 Â Posted October 17, 2011 Old glass?Just had a look on the net, and 'older' lenses don't seem to have the number on them?!?!?! Â I guess older glass: Pre Asph 35 and 50 lux, 35 asph cron (screw mount), 50 collapsable elmar (last version) - can't find the model number. The 28 Asph Elmarit is the only 6 bit coded lens I have and it has the model number above the 'made in Germany'... so I guess the non-current lens didn't have the model number written anywhere? lct Posted October 17, 2011 Share #4 Â Posted October 17, 2011 ...I guess the non-current lens didn't have the model number written anywhere? Yes but some current lenses don't have it either e.g. my 6-bit coded 35/2 asph from 2010.
UliWer Posted October 17, 2011 Share #5 Â Posted October 17, 2011 When I look at my pre asph. 50mm Summilux, or the 50mm Elmar's last version I can't find the product number. If you want to know which manual setting for the M9 applies to your lenses I'd recommend to look here to find the numbers: http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-wiki.en/index.php/50mm_f/1.4_Summilux-M_II Â The Wiki has all the numbers for different lens versions. algrove Posted October 18, 2011 Share #6 Â Posted October 18, 2011 The Leica part numbers are marked on recently purchased 24mm 3.8, 35mm 1.4 and 18mm 3.8 lenses just below the "Made in Germany" stamp.
