spylaw4 Posted October 8, 2011 Share #2 Posted October 8, 2011 If true it increases the pressure on Leica to pull another rabbit out of the hat!
earleygallery Posted October 8, 2011 Share #3 Posted October 8, 2011 You really think that Fuji will release a new manual focus camera?!
Ronan Posted October 8, 2011 Share #4 Posted October 8, 2011 You really think that Fuji will release a new manual focus camera?! Why not? Fuji got their game hat on, unlike many other companies that seem to be 'testing water' but a part from that...
andybarton Posted October 8, 2011 Share #5 Posted October 8, 2011 Is it not possible that Fuji could offer their own autofocus lenses in a mount that will also take an M lens?
MarkP Posted October 8, 2011 Share #6 Posted October 8, 2011 Does anyone know the accuracy rate of the LeicaRumors website? If true it may prove to be the low-cost backup body for the M9 we have been waiting for (depending on what Leica has planned).
earleygallery Posted October 8, 2011 Share #7 Posted October 8, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Is it not possible that Fuji could offer their own autofocus lenses in a mount that will also take an M lens? I'd think the M mount is too small to allow for contacts etc., but an adapter is very likely I guess. But will it be FF or just another variation on the 4/3rds theme? NZDavid Posted October 8, 2011 Share #8 Posted October 8, 2011 Of course they will. As a marketing tool, along with their own Fuji AF lenses. The Leica M mount is available with Panasonic, Olympus, Ricoh cameras... It is long out of copyright! I doubt though any new camera from any manufacturer apart from Leica will be designed for exclusively manual lenses or come with a rangefinder. And it won't be FF. That is what makes the M unique. MarkP Posted October 8, 2011 Share #10 Posted October 8, 2011 Have you not read my blog? Regards, Bill Hi Bill, Have now. Nice review by the way. I should have qualified my statement in that hopefully it may offer a built in optical VF. The Ricoh is very interesting but I would really want a backup which has a built in optical viewfinder rather than having to resort to Zombie-posture photography or to permanently keep an external optical viewfinder on it. However, the head of Leica service/repairs in Melbourne was telling me the other day that he's been very pleased with the results from his lenses on the Panasonic GF2. However, the Ricoh with a small 28 or 35-40mm M mount lens on it is still very tempting. The construction and performance is quite impressive. I'd still really like a small M-mount digital with a built in optical VF. Regards, Mark
Holybasil Posted October 8, 2011 Share #11 Posted October 8, 2011 What I'm most interested in is what focusing system they will be using. If they do decide to put a rangefinder in it, I will be very interested. All depending on sensor size of course.

All depending on sensor size of course. Exactly my point about an optical viewfinder (for framing and focusing). A reasonable sensor was to some extent a given. algrove Posted October 8, 2011 Share #13 Posted October 8, 2011 Have you not read my blog? Regards, Bill Hey Bill- I cannot find any literature discussing the histogram on the GXR. Surely, it must have one? True?

mjh Posted October 8, 2011 Share #15 Posted October 8, 2011 Will Fuji use Leica's M mount for their upcoming mirrorless camera? No, they won’t. It makes no sense. Though surely you will be able to adapt M lenses, just as you can do now with all the other mirrorless cameras out there.
dhsimmonds Posted October 8, 2011 Share #16 Posted October 8, 2011 The Fuji Guys mentioned today that Fuji's upcoming line of X-series interchangeable lens, mirror-less cameras based on the popular X-100 will not use a micro 4/3 sensor but rather a "premium" (read: larger) one that delivers better resolution and less noise than a 35mm full frame sensor. Other details are still scarce and it looks like we'll have to wait until Fuji officially unveils the cameras at CES 2012 in January for more. 250swb Posted October 8, 2011 Share #17 Posted October 8, 2011 Whether it has an M mount with some extra electronics or not it will still have a crop factor, so will not be a direct backup for an M camera. Steve
mjh Posted October 8, 2011 Share #18 Posted October 8, 2011 The Fuji Guys mentioned today … The relevant tweets by Billy (one of the FujiGuys) are: #Fujifilm X Series Interchangeable lens system not = M4/3 nor current mirrorless cams. X series will be "premium" cameras! and #Fujifilm is committed to deliver the best image quality possible in the X series lineup. This will always be top of mind for us!
