Leica M3

I just got a Leica M3 with serial number over 1 mil. It seems to be in good working condition. There is that timer or watch ticking sound after the shutter release which I've read is expected (correct me if I'm wrong). With the old adage, "if it's not broken don't fix it" in mind, shall I send it out for CLA?

Shoot a roll of colour slide film and exercise all the shutter speeds. That should give you an idea. That said my 1957 M3 came back a lot better after a trip to DAG, in particular the contrast in the VF/RF was a lot better. Must now be like it was when new. Regardless, remember that mechanical cameras likes to be used and enjoy your M3.

As an absolute beginner in photography, I wanted to learn it the right way so that I have a good foundation, don't take shortcuts, and just shoot thousands of exposures digitally and develop bad habits. That's why I bought an M3. Thank you all for your help.
