Agent M10 Posted October 5, 2011 Share #1 Â Posted October 5, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) I'm in the market for buying a new 90mm APO, but wondered if there had been any rumors or news about a new 90mm for 2012. Â Only changes I can think of would relate to production cost savings. Â Weight and size reduction for the 90mm APO-ASPH would be very nice. How? UliWer Posted October 5, 2011 Share #4 Â Posted October 5, 2011 The 90mm-Elmarit has been replaced by the Summarit - with a similar optical design and excellent results - so I wouldn't wait for a new Elmarit-version. Â I don't see any reason for "floating elements" in the 90mm Apo-Asph. Focus shift is no big problem for this lens. The only thing which could need improvement one day is resistance to flare. May be a more effective hood will do.  Floating éléments don't only help focus shift, they also can be used to improve close up performance. Something which I thought the 90 APO could be better at.
