Advertisement Posted October 3, 2011 Posted October 3, 2011 Hi luigi bertolotti, Take a look here Never seen one like this (???). I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
carlmuck Posted October 3, 2011 Share #2 Posted October 3, 2011 Looks like flare/reflection of the hood.
luigi bertolotti Posted October 3, 2011 Author Share #3 Posted October 3, 2011 Is a 12526, black, plastic... indeed, the filter is with chrome ring... and te sun was not in a "safe" position... but I'm surprised for is a set I have used a lot in any lighting situation than can occur... and never experienced any problem... Jeff S Posted October 4, 2011 Share #4 Posted October 4, 2011 Same lens as photo in this thread. Perhaps different issue, given more circular pattern. Jeff
stonearabiapix Posted October 4, 2011 Share #5 Posted October 4, 2011 Your camera is tipped, ever so much slightly higher in the flared photo, as can be seen by the inclusion of more sky, hence the sun slipping under your shade.
Shade Posted October 4, 2011 Share #6 Posted October 4, 2011 The picture is different slightly, the angle, and perhaps some change in light source as well as you can see the glimmer on the water is not the same between the first and second picture. I think it's normal.
pgk Posted October 4, 2011 Share #7 Posted October 4, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) I would say that you've experienced some shift in the reflected light off the water or some other reflective surface which is outside the recorded image area and this has caused a flare reflection. Perfectly normal I'd say.
wattsy Posted October 4, 2011 Share #8 Posted October 4, 2011 Agree that it is just a bit of flare. Looks normal to me for this lens. Looks like a nice place to sit.
luigi bertolotti Posted October 4, 2011 Author Share #9 Posted October 4, 2011 Thanks to all for your hints... indeed, I wasn't so worried... clearly nothing to do with the camera in itself... was a splendid day and no one pic had a problem except this one... and despite the fine scenery I was conscious that was a "bad" angle in lighting terms... jaapv Posted October 4, 2011 Share #11 Posted October 4, 2011 An internal reflection - it shows the shape of the aperture blades.

jimofnyc Posted October 5, 2011 Share #13 Posted October 5, 2011 Is this a flare caused in the lens or a result of light bouncing off the lens' surface, onto the back of the UV/IR filter and then into the camera?
luigi bertolotti Posted October 5, 2011 Author Share #14 Posted October 5, 2011 Is this a flare caused in the lens or a result of light bouncing off the lens' surface, onto the back of the UV/IR filter and then into the camera? In that case I think it wouldn't have such a straight shape.
