in very good condition , why this groove milled in the Viso front mount ?

SPECIAL LEICA CAMERA WITH VISOFLEX GRAY PAINT & ENGRAVED ON THE BACK | eBay

Perhaps it was customised for use where the mount is used in a high vibration environment like an aircraft. Why the seller expects such silly money for it: it should sell at $1200 not $18000... Are people losing their minds?

I think I have it figured out... It's a way to defraud EBAY of their commission.

1) Advertise the item at a ridiculously high price so that it can't possibly sel, then:

2) It didn't sell on EBAY but it was advertised, so that 3) someone sends them a private message: how about selling it to me for 1200... OK: item sold no commission to ebay.

Hmmmm.

The groove is visible in this similar item (NASA M2) , on auction sale just in these days (base 12KUS$ premium incl.)

Especially the Visoflex looks like a repaint.

... and body too (compare with the auction pics I linked - expecially the top)....... the s/n just 1 more than the last of the "official" NASA batch makes to arise any kind of hipotesis... from the "original factory surplus" to the "smartly engineered fake from original parts"...
