psquared Posted February 14, 2007 Share #1 Posted February 14, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I took the afternoon off on my birthday and went for a hike ... with my photo gear, of course. I was treated to a Western scrub jay, Red-tailed hawk, White-crowned sparrow, Wrentit, and a gorgeous sunset. Thanks for looking, Peter

stuny Posted February 14, 2007 Share #4 Posted February 14, 2007 Happy birthday, Peter. 26th, isn't it (difficult to tell from your avatar)? Excellent series with terrific colors, details, bokeh, 3D effect and framing. I'll be sending the bird photos to a friend in the wilds not far from Sacramento who as an avocation helps rehabilitate raptors. Which camera(s) and lens(es)? Peter41951 Posted February 14, 2007 Share #6 Posted February 14, 2007 Many happy returns and congratulations on such an excellent series. Superb bird photographs - you must have a good deal of patience to capture these on one outing.
psquared Posted February 14, 2007 Author Share #7 Posted February 14, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Thank you all for the birthday wishes and your compliments. I used my R9/DMR combination for all the images. The bird pictures were taken with either a 560/4 (the scrub jay) or a 800/5.6 (thre rest). The sunset picture was taken with a 35-70/2.8. I did bring my tripod for the long lens on the hike, so it wasn't a long or arduous hike. I'm not able to carry as much weight now that I've been 26 years old for a good number of years. psquared Posted February 15, 2007 Author Share #11 Posted February 15, 2007 Haim, Thank you. I like the first one the best as well. It's the only full crop image out of the bird pics. Peter
kidigital Posted February 16, 2007 Share #12 Posted February 16, 2007 Very nice Peter and happy b-day. Sigh ... it does make me miss the DMR and all of that wonderful glass. Kurt
psquared Posted February 16, 2007 Author Share #13 Posted February 16, 2007 Thank you kindly, Kurt. I do miss your posts with the long tele shots. However, it seems you're having fun with the M8. I sure could've used one last night. The light weight and better low-light performance would have been great at my son's 11th birthday dinner at the dimly-lit restaurant. I assume that's your daughter on your avatar. Don't they grow fast? Peter
