Brandon Skinner Posted September 8, 2011 Share #1 Posted September 8, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Anyone else love the vignetting caused by non-coded lenses? I've only been shooting with an M8 for a short while but so far I love the effects. I suppose it would be smarter to code my lenses and edit in post if I actually wanted the vignetting effect but so far everything I've shot that experienced vignetting is super pleasing to my eye. Holybasil Posted September 8, 2011 Share #2 Posted September 8, 2011 It does generally make it look more natural. People have a tendency to go overboard with vignettes. Myself included, but I still prefer to have complete control.
jaapv Posted September 8, 2011 Share #3 Posted September 8, 2011 It would be wiser to use filters, code the lenses and apply vignetting in post.

jaapv Posted September 10, 2011 Share #5 Posted September 10, 2011 To elaborate: the correct way to apply a vignette in the digital workflow is: 1. Raw develop the image using lens correction to make it completele even 2. Posrprocess all the way including cropping if needed 3. Apply vignetting using your favorite method. Lens correction is the simplest . That way you do not get an uneven vignette by cropping and you can control the intensity and size of the vignette.
