stuny Posted July 24, 2015 Share #764 Posted July 24, 2015 It makes me think of the Getty, but it's too green for LA.
sls Posted July 24, 2015 Share #765 Posted July 24, 2015 The Getty is mostly stone and not a lot of trees, given it's up a mountain. It's a bit of a nondescript building without any clues. It looks a bit like my son's school, although even that is a bit more interesting. This one could run and run ....
stuny Posted July 25, 2015 Share #766 Posted July 25, 2015 Yes, I suppose we'll need some hits before long.
war Posted July 25, 2015 Share #767 Posted July 25, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) One hint, only one, and no more! ............."It's about the trellis"
sls Posted July 25, 2015 Share #768 Posted July 25, 2015 "Trellis" is a bit rich - aerofoil or louvre would be more appropriate. I must admit it was intriguing as I'm sure I've seen a picture of it, although it could be a shopping centre or a car park. I then had a wild punt at Renzo Piano and 20 seconds later, thanks to google, I came up with the new wing of the Chicago Art Institute. Now I'm wondering where I saw the picture, possibly at the Shard or the Pompidou.
war Posted July 25, 2015 Share #769 Posted July 25, 2015 The galleries are splendid for modern works. Here's another shot with Gehry in the background. Your turn again! Welcome, dear visitor! sls Posted July 25, 2015 Share #770 Posted July 25, 2015 The galleries are splendid for modern works. Here's another shot with Gehry in the background. Your turn again! I've seen a larger version of that Giacometti as well. It's very memorable because with the figures all walking away from each other it has a very negative space in the middle. Very depressing, which is probably what Giacometti was intending. You should tell the gallery to get rid of the glass, as it rather ruins the effect. I'll get another image up soon. war Posted August 1, 2015 Share #772 Posted August 1, 2015 If it were brought into focus, would it look like this? Welcome, dear visitor! masjah Posted August 2, 2015 Share #773 Posted August 2, 2015 So that would be the Sagrada Familia then (if so then war wins it, of course).
sls Posted August 2, 2015 Share #774 Posted August 2, 2015 It would have been a little too obvious in focus. But correct anyway.
war Posted August 2, 2015 Share #775 Posted August 2, 2015 Thanks sls for the really creative interpretation of that space, so much better than a straight on "recording". Hi John, I would like to propose that you put up the next one as you actually named it!

masjah Posted August 3, 2015 Share #779 Posted August 3, 2015 Reminds me of Sainsburys in Peterborough I thought a thread rule was no details Apologies! Coming to this thread relatively late, I missed the rule about no details. Ok, here's an image of the whole building (different day so different light). Fish scales are not irrelevant.
