Zenith 58mm on Leica M8

Bear in mind that you will have to guess the focus by using the distance scale on the lens (it won't couple with the camera) which might be difficult using a 58mm lens. It's also likely to block much of the viewfinder.

Personally I wouldn't bother (unless I owned a nice ultra wide lens).

Sergio, the M42 adapter looks okay. Problem will be how to focus your M8 with the Zenith lens. The adapter will not allow the M42 lens to focus on the M8 because the lens has no mechanism to link with the M8. Only trial and error will work.

Are you sure you want to spend money on an adapter? I personally think it's money wasted and suggest keeping the money in your pocket to save for a lens that couples with the rangefinder mechanism.

Cheers, Maarten

Thanks guys but what about the nikon lens to m camera adapter?

Will also that one NOT couple with the camera?

Same as the M42 one: you have to focus by setting the distance on the lens's focusing ring, it's not coupled to the Leica's rangefinder.

Cameraquest formerly sold Nikon adapters which had their own "focusing" ring and rangefinder coupling. You turned the focusing ring until the rangefinder showed the distance was correct, then examined the distance scale on the adapter and set the same distance on the lens.

If you have a 50mm lens in Alpa Reflex mount, there are adapters that provide full rangefinder coupling, but that is the only instance in which a SLR lens will couple with a Leica body.
