here are some images...

the light skin is the M6/M9 version I currently use... home made so it is not a professional job, as you can see... but it has lasted thirty years without any incident.

the dark skin is the version i designed but had someone pro make for me... it is for the M5, which i no longer have (if anybody is interested i might sell it)

let me know what you think.

Thanks Mustafa for your pictures....you're quite a serious hobbyist & good handyman to work with leather to make this casing. Will have a chat with James to see his thoughts on your design. And will take some shots of his smaller camera belt pooch.

Will go tomorrow and keep you posted. And have no clue on the pricing Rafael, why it is not shown--suggest you send them an email I guess. But will also mention this to them.

Regards,

Philip

Thanks.

I would love to hear what he says about it and if it would be something he could improve upon.

Mmmm . . . the idea of a 'holster' has some attraction, but these prices are little short of astronomical. If firms like Uncle Mike's ( Uncle Mikes - The Leader in Shooting Accessories ) can make 'real' holsters out of durable woven nylon materials that are kind to the relatively delicate finish of a blued pistol, maybe it's time for some photographic entrepreneur to give some thought to the idea for the Leica or other 'traditionally' shaped cameras.

Just think, we could have hi-ride belt models or thigh mounted lo-carry Leicaholsters with quick-release safety straps - or even concealed-carry models for 'street shooters' :) All for less than USD 50. Maybe.

Went back today to the shop, James was not there, but another of his colleagues was there, and took pictures of the aforementioned holster that fits his little Olympic camera. Anyway a nice concept for a smaller camera that is different than Mustafa's option.

For the M9 that weighs as heavy as a Colt six shooter, recommend the holster to be tied/held down to your leg, a la gun holster--to stop it from flopping around--if design is similar as seen in these pictures. But don't think it is really a comfortable solution, as I will be paranoid bumping my lens into things--even if I fitted my smaller Summicron 35 mm lens here.

Guess it is back to the old-fashioned neck strap for me :(

if i lived in tucson city, maybe it would make sense... otherwise this is a bit ridiculous walking down the high street.

I prefer my version which with a 35/2 is far more inconspicuous.

Today my wife and I visited "Annie Barton 1972" in the Central District of Hong Kong to check out the new Wotancraft M9 holsters. Victor Chen, owner, was wonderful and spent lots of time showing us the entire product lineup. The holsters are very well made, with high quality leather and robust stitching. Both versions, the WWII Reporter (brown) and Hektor (black) models were extreme tight fitting and took some effort to get an M9 inserted, however this will probably get easier as the leather stretches out. The black leather of the Hektor model is softer and more pliable that the brown, saddle leather of the WWII Reporter. The strap is comfortable and can be easily adjusted. While interesting I just couldn't see myself walking around with this thing draped over my shoulder. Also my wife said I looked like a dork and she would not be seen with me if I wore this thing...score one for fashion.

I did purchase one of the Wotancraft "Scout" model bags, which really impressed me with the leather, waxed canvas construction, basic padding, and removable, zippered insert for even more protection.

Wow, you guys are really into camera bags and stuff. Like some of the other posters here, I just wind the strap around my wrist or throw the camera strap over my shoulder. I carry spare lens(s) and accessory stuff in pockets. No Bag.

It sounds like you guys that are into bags might enjoy checking out this forum all about bags: http://www.thebagforum.com/ :D

What can I say - I did not buy a Leica to walk about looking like Wyatt Earp....

Do I look like Wyatt Earp too or are you just throwing the baby out with the water?

I think I have been trying to make that point too about these holsters made to look like gun slingers... But one designed like mine seems to be far more reasonable and practical in the streets of olden Europe.
