Lucklik Posted August 24, 2011 Share #1 Posted August 24, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello, I suppose everybody knows the picture Rene Burri took of HCB in Cuba in 1963. http://abelem.files.wordpress.com/2008/08/hcb02.jpg I like the picture because it shows HCB working. Besides his Leica he only seems to carry one or two small bags. Perhaps with 35 & 90mm lenses and/or film. I think the 50 is on his camera. Today we see the press carry a large Nikon D3 and a bag big bag full of lenses. What a difference. Does anybody knows which Leica he is using there? Was he already using a M or is it still a III? lct Posted August 24, 2011 Share #2 Posted August 24, 2011 I knew this photo but i did not know it was taken by René Burri. Would you have another link by chance? The cam could be HCB's IIIg but it is just a guess. HCB with Leica IIIg HCB's Leica IIIg

Bo_Lorentzen Posted August 24, 2011 Share #4 Posted August 24, 2011 Don't know the camera - but apropos to recent M-focusing discussions - it probably shows HCB rocker focusing, fine tuning his focus by moving his body - naturally I don't know that is what he is doing, but over the years I have seen a lot of M photographers do that resulting in almost identical poses when they adjust. . Lucklik Posted August 25, 2011 Author Share #7 Posted August 25, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Tnx everyone for the answers. I have another link almost at the bottom of the page. http://www.olhave.com.br/blog/?tag=henri-cartier-bresson I've the same pictures in the French PHOTO nr 349. I scanned it and I hope I don't break any copyright laws by posting here a part of the picture. Because the Cuba picture by Rene Burri was taken in 1963 and HCB is spotted in 1957 with a Leica M by Bob Henriques Henri Cartier Bresson | Flickr - Photo Sharing! I suppose HCB was using a M.
