animefx Posted August 8, 2011 Share #1 Posted August 8, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) I'm pretty sure the filter size isn't listed on any M mount lens Leica or other... I need to get some B+W UV IR filters for the following lenses, but I'm not sure what size 40mm f/2 Rokkor 50mm f/2 Summicron (newest version) 28mm f/2.8 Elmarit I haven't purchased the 28mm yet, but I've noticed yellow colors in nature photos I've taken with my 40mm rokkor and want to take care of that. Advertisement Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 Hi animefx, Take a look here How do you know which size UV IR filter to use on any given lens?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
richfx Posted August 8, 2011 Share #2 Posted August 8, 2011 Every lens manufacturer lists the filter size for each lens it produces. Just visit their website and view the specifications for any lens. Rich
lct Posted August 8, 2011 Share #3 Posted August 8, 2011 Rokkor 40/2: 40.5mm Summicron 50/2: 39mm Elmarit 28/2.8: 39, 46 or 49mm. Depends on the version. 39mm for the current 28/2.8 asph for example.
JKphotography Posted August 8, 2011 Share #4 Posted August 8, 2011 Let's see: The Leica lenses are pretty easy. Leica 50mm f2.0 Summicron: E39 filter (39mm) Leica 28mm f2.8 Elmarit: E39 filter (39mm) BUT....the Rokkor X is going to be something completely different...It has the pretty rare 40,5mm thread for either a filter or the screw-in hood. Just curious, do you have the CL or CLE version of this lens? Regards, Joël

jaapv Posted August 8, 2011 Share #6 Posted August 8, 2011 40.5 is normally available through foto- Huppert. I found out, however, that B&W has discontinued series 5.
animefx Posted August 8, 2011 Author Share #7 Posted August 8, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Here are the two filters I ordered... Hopefully they are the correct ones. I know they are the correct size but I'm not sure if every UV/IR filter are created equally... Can someone check my links and make sure these were the correct purchases I needed? 40mm f/2 rokkor Amazon.com: B+W 65-036722 40.5mm UV/IR Cut Filter #486: Camera & Photo 50mm f/2 summicron Amazon.com: B+W 65-1014112 39mm UV/IR Cut Filter #486: Electronics Much appreciated
animefx Posted August 8, 2011 Author Share #8 Posted August 8, 2011 I have the CL version... I bought it bundled with the CL last year. Pretty good lens although it's not the sharpest at f/2 Let's see: The Leica lenses are pretty easy. Leica 50mm f2.0 Summicron: E39 filter (39mm) Leica 28mm f2.8 Elmarit: E39 filter (39mm) BUT....the Rokkor X is going to be something completely different...It has the pretty rare 40,5mm thread for either a filter or the screw-in hood. lct Posted August 8, 2011 Share #9 Posted August 8, 2011 ...Can someone check my links and make sure these were the correct purchases I needed?... Sounds like Amazon codes are not up to date at first glance. 39mm: http://tinyurl.com/3dqfnu7 40.5mm: http://tinyurl.com/3bjhhb7
animefx Posted August 9, 2011 Author Share #10 Posted August 9, 2011 Hopefully whatever I ordered will work... The photos of the filters amazon used and the codes aren't the same as the links on schnider's site, this worries me but the description is an UV / IR filter and the correct sizes so I don't see why I'll have any problems... I suppose I'll find out tomorrow evening when they arrive.
