I snapped one photo and the exposure was not what I wanted (MY MISTAKE) so I then wanted to just delete that one SINGLE photo. I deleted the one single photo and my camera locked up. The only way I could take more photos was to take the battery out for more than a few seconds and then put it back in. This is definitely not what I want happening for the damn money we all have paid for this camera. So, any thoughts from this helpful forum? The card was a Sandisk Extreme 111 8gb. hydet Posted July 29, 2011 Share #3 Posted July 29, 2011 I don't think I would ever spend time deleting images in the middle of a shoot: not only does it take up valuable time, and take your eyes off the scene, but too many things can go wrong. Or is there something inherently different in the S2 architecture that is not prone to SD card problems? I've had minor problems myself on my M9 after no SD problems with my M8. Will it take an M10 with really upgraded electronics to fix the problem or is the problem still in firmware? I know CF cards are bigger, but I really prefer CF cards, like in my Nikon D2x. The only thing Leica provided was the specs and the case. The S2 is made entirely in house at Leica. That is not the point, there have been a few times when shooting an assignment I have not had a card within reach for what ever reason and have had to punt a few images to make room even if temporarily for a key shot, it happens in the digital age. Last year, when shooting the very event I am shooting right this moment, I had the the M9 I rented lock up no less than three times in 4 days with removing the battery being the only remedy, luckily, no key shots were lost. This year, I am using my usual Nikon kit and my X100. Now the X100 locks up in doing other things like shooting sequences, bracketed sets or raw which I never have to shoot with this camera because the jpegs are press-ready right out of the camera, more so than even the Nikons. So even though I would love to have a well designed and considerately priced digital M in my kit to use my M glass with, I have a feeling Leica is never getting another dime out of me as what I replaced it with this year has given me nearly 10,000 trouble free images in just over two months. Now just so you don't think I am bashing Leica in it's entirety, I am also shooting Tri-x in my M3 and M6 at the same event. Stop making excuses and diverting attention every single time someone has a valid complaint about the M9, we can see right through it and know why you do it. "Jenoptic is our partner for that camera for the digital part again, so sensor from Kodak and image board and sensor board - the two main electronic PCB's are coming from Jenoptic and also the development on that...The interface and user functions were designed by Leica then we made a specification and this has been worked out by Jenoptic... I suspect Kodak buys the motherboards at Fujitsu. So what is new? Welcome to the twentyfirst century. Components are sourced worldwide and the final assembly of the M9 is in Solms. Folks on this forum have been told - I don't know by whom - that Leica has recognized they have a problem and are working on it with Jenoptik and SanDisk. Best, K-H.
